Position Purpose & Summary:
The CAN MEA Lab Lead provides leadership to laboratory and health services across a CAN MEA to key accounts. This key position enables the business to enhance its commercial growth agenda by offering complete solutions to our key accounts. This position manages and prioritizes customer relationships and projects across CAN MEA, with input from the go to market teams. Implements and monitors processes and standards to ensure consistency in how laboratory services and animal health services are capturing value, identifies/proposes solutions, manages projects, communicates with and trains customers as well as CAN MEA go to market teams. Responsible for executing and implementing laboratory and animal health vision and strategy for CAN MEA. Is a member of CAN MEA SMT management team with people and team management accountabilities.
40% TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY AND IMPLEMENTATION
Oversees and provides guidance to direct reports on project management, planning and issues resolution related to laboratory and animal health services.
May identity project scope and develop project plan according to the Cargill guidelines for new application/ product for key accounts where project success is critical (e.g., identify equipment, capabilities and team members required for project).
Partners in discussions with go to market teams (regional commercial directors, species technology leaders, strategic marketing, etc) and to define the strategy for the laboratory service portfolio and long-term/ high risk innovation projects (e.g., Commercial Plans, etc.).
For select accounts, works directly with Cargill’s SMT (strategic market and technology) and Operations teams on behalf of the customer to ensure projects are completed and issues are resolved timely and within agreed upon cost and quality standards.
For select accounts, independently troubleshoots problems, utilizing deep subject-matter expertise and/or works directly with the TAS (technical application specialist) or Commercial team on behalf of the customer.
Continuous improvement (quality, efficiency, safety) of the laboratory tasks (internal and external) and services provided to customers.
Roll out training & best practice sharing in CAN MEA to make sure all relevant team members have the necessary knowledge to successfully position our species portfolio.
25% APPLICATION AND VALUE CREATION / OPTIMIZATION
Collaborates with and guide go to market teams (Sales and SMT): providing product/ application/ service expertise, sharing intimate knowledge of the customers’ business strategy and processes, providing insight to customer needs, trends and competitor comparisons and oversees and provides guidance to direct reports in identifying solutions for the customer, exploring competitor capabilities and determining value.
Responsible for continues improvement by updating and validating new laboratory tests and services which enables to create value for our customers
Assesses the marketplace and prioritizes current and future services related to animal health and laboratory. Provides strategic direction related to customer segmentation by balancing customer needs and resource constraints and assessing potential value creation and optimization.
Oversees and provides guidance to direct reports on how they interface with, and train customers and internal go to market teams.
Conducts needs assessment and gathers requirements for selected customers according to the customer segmentation.
Develops in combination with the communication lead customer communications for key accounts.
25% TALENT MANAGEMENT
Provides direct leadership and coaching. Directly supervises supervisors, professional and/or support staff, including coaching Cargill’s Leadership expectation and Guiding Principles.
Creates plan for workforce needs for laboratories and animal health services, and directs the implementation of plans within CAN MEA.
Accountable for performance management, talent development, recruiting/ hiring, compensation management, succession planning and engagement of direct reports.
10% RESOURCES & BUDGET MANAGEMENT
Leverages organization capabilities of cross-functional internal and external resources to identify opportunities for joint development across CAN MEA and to connect beyond area of expertise.
Responsible for overall CAN MEA laboratory budget
Manages resources for CAN MEA to efficiently and effectively deliver all laboratory services.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
MSc / PhD degree (or equivalent experience) in animal health or other related study
Min. 5 years’ experience in animal health and lab analysis.
Proven track record in people leadership and management by experience in providing coaching and developing talent
Fluent in English language.
