Description

Position Purpose

Interfacing with clients and prospective customers, helping them understand how Cargill Animal Nutrition can provide solutions for them and improve their profitability. Consultants typically specialize in an area of expertise, dairy, beef, swine and retail sales to owners of companion animals.

This person is responsible for leading relationships at the store level, implementing marketing programs and conducting service activities in order to achieve objectives for volume, revenue, profit, consumer experience, retention and satisfaction, under the direction of the Business Development Manager. This role is critical for the execution of the marketing strategy and growth objectives for the brands and product lines (Equine, Pet, Poultry, Wildlife & Beef) distributed through the Retail channel.

This person will be responsible for providing information about market conditions, competitors' activities and sales results.

Principal Accountabilities

-40% Establish and build effective customer relationships. Execute established strategies and marketing activities that service the retail channel by working closely with the Business Development Manager. Initiate and support programs and activities to increase consumer retail sales at the store level.

-25% Key activities at the store level include: in store merchandising, employee training, events/seminars, inventory reconciliation, feed rotation, managing customer complaints, and provide input on promotion opportunities to grow volume and contribution.

-20% Administrative activities related to travel expenses, performance evaluation, store reports, sales reports.

- 15% Manage events within the geography as well as leverage territory trade shows & association relations, ambassadors/demos, national & regional sponsorships to grow market share.

Qualifications

Required

  • High Graduate or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of Sales experience OR Equine, Poultry or Pet industry experience

  • Ability to travel 4-5 days per week / including 2-3 overnights per week.

  • Have a Valid Driver’s License & Insurance

  • Strong collaboration skills with desire and ability to work across multiple job families and multiple layers of the organization

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability of responsible decision making

  • Highly organized and self-motivated, able to set and follow priorities, manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to create and sustain relationships through strong written/verbal communication skills

  • Strong relationship building skills and desire to work with retail customers and consumers

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3 or more years of Sales experience

  • Experience with Animal/Livestock Feeding & management practices

  • Experience with Retail Animal/Livestock Feed manufacturing & distribution channel

  • Experience working with customers, consumers and retail services.

  • Experience in animal health and agriculture

  • Experience in the equine industry
