Develop and implement EHS strategy. Lead improvement of EHS processes and management systems. Apply general knowledge of EHS standards and practices. Contribute to shape the right EHS culture.

Principal Accountabilities

30% Develop and implement EHS strategy

Assesses Environmental, Health and Safety risks and opportunities using general knowledge of EHS practices and standards (including current and short term future regulatory requirement).

Contributes to definition of the local EHS strategy and ensures its compliance with the corporate and group strategy.

Leads the development of programs and processes to execute the EHS strategy. Part of these programs and processes are: ISO 14.001, OHSAS 18.001, Behavior Based Safety program, 5S, Corporate audit, Deep dives, SIF assessments, Training, EHS notifications…..

Supports efforts to ensure deep understanding and achieve support of the approved EHS strategy from internal (and sometimes external) stakeholders.

40% Maintain and improve EHS results.

Provides operational leadership to EHS audit, inspection and risk assessment processes like deep dives, corporate audits, RI&E.

Executes EHS related trainings and exercises for the site.

Supports leaders in using tools, applying EHS practices and with EHS aspects of the work in general.

Analyzes processes and data to identify performance. Provides reporting of measures and indicators.

30% Shape EHS culture

Builds effective working relationships in order to obtain/sustain a strong EHS culture.

Supports leaders in communicating about EHS results, programs and processes.

Supports leaders to promote proactive workplace Environment, Health and Safety practices. Using general knowledge of EHS practices and standards, provides technical, regulatory and behavioral support required to build a strong EHS culture.

Designs and delivers training solutions related to EHS issues, practices and risks


Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in EHS or Engineering with affinity/experience in EHS function

  • Three (3) years’ experience in (process)industry in a similar role

  • Experience with set-up and maintaining Management systems

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Listening, speaking, writing, presenting, discussing and negotiating

  • Interpersonal skills: team player, respectful, influencer, organized, systems thinker, teacher of concepts

  • Proficient in English and Dutch

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with construction safety
