Purpose of this position:

The Personal Marketing Manager is part of a grain consulting team focused on helping our grain marketing service clients make better grain marketing decisions while adding value to Cargill’s core business. The Personal Marketing Manager is primarily accountable for acquiring new prospect clients as well as delivering the face to face elements of our grain marketing services and engaging with the broader Cargill Ag Marketing Services Team. By identifying opportunities with our clients and uncovering the client’s needs, the Personal Marketing Manager will proactively float new ideas and grain marketing strategies while providing education around possible solutions that can capture the market’s opportunities for our clients. The Personal Marketing Manager Advisor will work closely with their Internal Grain Marketing Advisor team member and provide secondary support for market updates, contract execution and individual client specific strategies. The Personal Marketing Manager will be part of the Regional team and will work closely with the Farm Marketers and Origination Specialists, where appropriate. The External Grain Marketing Advisor will fulfill the Cargill Leadership Expectations with their customer base as well as their employee teammates.

The Personal Marketing Manager will be an ambassador to establishing and creating the success for Cargill Ag Marketing Services and new products as introduce. Must have the ability to sell intangible advising products and help customers evaluate their situation, develop, act, re-evaluate and adjust the plan as circumstances change.

Key Responsibilities:

60%The Personal Marketing Manager will deliver comprehensive grain marketing services to our farm clients at the kitchen table. Personal Marketing Manager will help customers market their grain through the execution of core product deliverables such as market reports and risk management tools as well as individual farm cash flow and contribution margin analysis. The Personal Marketing Manager will keep the customer’s Farm Marketer informed of services that are being provided and new sales opportunities that arise.

20%The Personal Marketing Manager, in coordination with the Farm Marketer, will sell Cargill Ag Marketing Services to farm customers in order to achieve revenue budgets and growth targets. A key enabler to achieving financial targets will be the Personal Marketing Manager working with the Farm Marketer and location teams to identify, prospect and close NEW Grain marketing Service clients.

20% The position will be required to work and communicate effectively with their Internal Grain Marketing Advisor team member. The Personal Marketing Manager will provide secondary support for market updates, contract execution and individual client strategies. The Personal Marketing Manager will also be part and work with the location team to help with grain related activities.

Other accountabilities:

Physical Effort: The Personal Marketing Manager will work in an office environment approximately 20% of the time. They will travel to customer’s place of business in customer meetings approximately 70% of the time. 10% of the time will be spent participating and traveling to Cargill meetings. This role will spend a large amount of time in meetings with customers at the kitchen table and working with computers and various software and spreadsheets. This role will not be involved in operations at a facility.

Physical Environment:The Personal Marketing Manager will be required to travel to customer’s business by personal vehicle. As well the role will be required to travel to various meetings/functions throughout the Region. Air travel may be required to attend meetings and training sessions. Prolonged periods of working on the computer and speaking to customers (telephone and in person) are to be expected in this role.

Sensory Attention:The Personal Marketing Manager role will be required to handle many different customer needs at one time. Excellent time management and planning will be required for this role to be successful. Staying up to-date on market conditions by reading, engaging in learning and seeking out information will be a key component to this role being successful. Visual, auditory and linguistic aptitude is necessary to be successful in this role.

Mental Stress:This role is expected to be the champion of Cargill Ag Marketing Services and achieve budget expectations. Customer expectations will add to the stress level of this role. The customer is paying for and expecting someone who is “up on the markets” and has an understanding of what that means to their individual situation. The Personal Marketing Manager will be responsible for their budget and will need to engage the Location and Regional team to help them reach their goals. Cargill will provide information, trends, and insight but it will be the Grain Marketing Advisor who will need to decipher it and deliver the appropriate solutions to the customer. The Personal Marketing Manager will be expected to assist the Grain Marketing and Location team with some problem solving and discovery learning.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Specialized knowledge of grain marketing and risk management.

  • Good working knowledge of grain futures, options and markets.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of production agriculture and farm management.

  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Ability to work in team environment.

  • Possess or able to obtain Series 3/30 Licenses.

Preferred:

  • Excellent comprehension of Cargill’s Risk Management Tools.

  • 3 Years working inside the Grain and Futures Industry.

  • 3 Years business to business sales experience.

  • Related Post-secondary education or training.

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail to create and maintain spreadsheets, databases and presentations.

  • Consulting experience.
