In the role of Refinery Superintendent of our facility in Gainesville, Georgia you will be responsible for the overall operations of refining operations. This will include safety, food safety, environmental policies and laws, plant engagement, employee management and development, capital planning and execution, budget development and control, customer solutions, and overall business results. You are a key player in the development of the long term strategic development for the site to achieve both business objectives and Cargill strategic initiatives with excellent results. In this position you will be looked upon as the technical leader for the refinery and support operations, maintenance, HR, QC, QA, accounting, finance, supply chain, transportation, sales, and other teams within the team.

Principal Accountabilities:

25% Leadership

  • Create a safe and engaging work environment through people development, training, coaching and performance review process

25% Operational Excellence

  • Oversee operations through the supervisory team to achieve plant performance metrics

20% Interact with functional leads/teams to achieve plant P&L results while maintaining good business balance

15% Work with external entities such as government, other businesses, and customers to improve brand equity of Cargill

15% Perform business assigned activities to achieve the overall business results


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 5 years’ processing experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ in a people leadership role

  • Team player, respectful and able to work independently or reach out for assistance when necessary

  • Ability to independently develop complex technical plans

  • Ability to develop and execute capital projects

  • Demonstrated ability to coach employees effectively for their development

  • Ability to travel as required – up to 25% of time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4-year engineering degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 5 years’ oilseed processing experience

  • Capital project experience

  • Functional knowledge of accounting, merchandising, logistics and maintenance

  • Complex troubleshooting skills

  • Demonstrated business acumen

  • Demonstrated ability to build employee engagement to improve plant results
