Purpose of this position:
The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor is part of a grain consulting team focused on helping our grain marketing service clients make better grain marketing decisions while adding value to Cargill’s core business. The Internal Advisor will be an integral role of delivering value proactively and timely through frequent and planned discussions with our clients primarily over the phone or in person at the location. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor is primarily accountable for updating client’s individual situation and marketing plan, informing clients of marketing opportunities, and executing client strategies and risk management contracts. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will work closely with their External Grain Marketing Advisor team member and provide secondary support by assisting with prospecting activities and face to face meetings.
70%The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will deliver Cargill Ag Marketing Services to our farm clients over the phone or in the office. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will help customers meet their grain marketing objectives by using the core product deliverables to better understand the client’s account, providing individual client impact from the market reports on a bi-weekly basis and executing the entry and exit of the correct risk management tools. The internal advisor plays a key role in client retention. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will execute the Cargill Leadership Expectations and other best practices.
15%The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor, in coordination with the External Advisor, will also assist when beneficial in selling Cargill Ag Marketing Services to farm customers. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will also conduct face to face meetings with clients especially when clients are close to the Internal Grain Marketing Advisors location.
15% The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will work and communicate proactively with the External Grain Marketing Advisor and will keep the client’s Farm Marketer or Origination Specialist informed of services that are being provided and new sales opportunities that arise. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will also play a key role working with the origination team and locations teams on grain related activities at the office, where appropriate. Other accountabilities:
Physical Effort: The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will work in an office environment approximately70- 80% of the time. They will travel to customer’s place of business in customer meetings approximately 10-20% of the time. 10% of the time will be spent participating and traveling to Cargill meetings. This role will spend a large amount of time on the phone, in meetings with customers and working with computers and various software and spreadsheets. This role will not be involved in operations at a facility.
Physical Environment:The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor on occasion will required to travel to customer’s business by personal vehicle. As well the role will be required to travel to various meetings/functions throughout the Region. Air travel may be required to attend meetings and training sessions. Prolonged periods of working on the computer and speaking to customers (telephone and in person) are to be expected in this role.
Sensory Attention:The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor role will be required to handle many different customer needs at one time. Excellent time management and planning will be required for this role to be successful. Staying up to-date on market conditions by reading, engaging in learning and seeking out information will be a key component to this role being successful. Visual, auditory and linguistic aptitude is necessary to be successful in this role.
Mental Stress:This role is expected to be the champion of Grain Marketing Services and achieve budgetexpectations. Customer expectations will add to the stress level of this role. The customer is paying for and expecting someone who is “up on the markets” and has an understanding of what that means to their individual situation. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will be responsible for their budget and will need to engage the Location and Regional team and their External Grain Marketing Advisor to help them reach their goals. Cargill Ag Marketing Service will provide information, trends, and insight but it will be the Grain Marketing Advisor who will need to decipher it and deliver the appropriate solutions to the customer. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will be expected to assist the Grain Marketing and Location team with some problem solving and discovery learning.
Specialized knowledge of grain marketing and risk management.
Good working knowledge of grain futures, options and markets.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Excellent knowledge of production agriculture and farm management.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to work in team environment
Possess or able to obtain Series 3/30 Licenses
Excellent comprehension of Cargill’s Risk Management Tools.
3 Years working inside the Grain and Futures Industry
3 Years business to business sales experience.
Related Post-secondary education or training.
Excellent organizational skills
Strong computer skills and attention to detail to create and maintain spreadsheets, databases and presentations.
