The key charter of this position is to provide technical and engineering focus to the Manufacturing Technology Group priorities. Role includes business case development for projects, managing best practice implementation initiatives, addressing gaps in best practice performance, monitoring key measures performance and addressing gaps, evaluation and implementation of new technologies, providing technical leadership for safe operations of the process, developing technical capabilities and knowledge at the facility, and assisting in justification of capital expenses and resource allocations. The role will include development, analysis, interpretation, and utilization of data and information during project inception, and execution. The person in this role is responsible for continuous improvement and Stable Operations sustainment in a designated operational area. This position also includes the utilization of continuous improvement (CI) tools including statistical analysis, optimization, as well as facilitation of Kaizen events as needed. This role will also support safety, food safety, and environmental improvement efforts.
20% - Lead efforts in optimizing the current operations and identifying value creation opportunities through the use of continuous improvement tools and driving execution through Delivery Office activities. Lead the site in monitoring performance and identifying opportunities through analysis of key performance indicators, manufacturing cost reports, and stable operations activities to create year on year value.
15% - Provide technical leadership in the application of the Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) program, including assembly of Process Safety Information, participation in Process Risk Assessments, identification of mitigating actions to close gaps identified in Risk Assessments, and providing technical leadership to the closure of gaps.
15% - Provide support for the facility as needed in troubleshooting operations, including participation in Root Cause Analysis and 5 Why activities where technical support is needed. Lead efforts in auditing the operation against standards on a regular basis and monitor and lead execution on actions items from Key Performance Indicator monitoring to ensure peak performance. Ability to cover for operations supervision as needed by the facility.
15% - Maintain involvement with and understanding of breakthrough technologies. Assist and support R&D section in trials, and eventual implementation of concepts. Provide technical leadership in developing business case for application of new technologies, and participate in project gate reviews, preliminary design activities, interface with the capital effectiveness team in validating the detailed design, and provide technical oversight during installation and start-up activities.
15% - Develop technical capabilities at the facility by leading the process of documenting, transferring, and training employees on technical knowledge. Provide coaching and mentorship from a technical perspective.
• 10% - Be location expert on equipment and systems. Identify and address methods to improve equipment/system efficiency, performance, and reliability.
• 10% - Lead department activities related to Stable Operations, including dent tracking, IDEX meetings, and tracking performance relating to stability and Q1/Q3.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical).
Minimum of 3 years practical experience after graduation.
Demonstrate high level of technical ability and ability to understand complex operational, engineering, and business activities.

Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and communicate goals, objectives, and accomplishments to a broad audience across multiple levels of the organization.

Project management experience.
Familiar with Project Delivery Process (PDP).
A minimum of one year of operations supervision experience in a manufacturing environment.
Starch modification and drying experience.
Demonstrated experience with assessing process risk and implementation of safeguards
Strong skills in Excel and/or databases and competency in process modeling tools
Demonstrated experience in using process data to identify and execute on value generation opportunities
Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
