Operations Analyst I


Purpose of this position:

The position of Operations Analyst I is responsible for the coordination of a variety of critical processes for the CRM Operations team. These processes are related to trade confirmation, product/transaction maintenance, funding, and settlement of a wide variety of risk management products. Understanding CRM’s derivatives business and the related processes and procedures will be necessary to be successful. As part of a high performing team this position will work closely with other Operations team members globally and assure compliance with CRM/Cargill guidelines. Maintain the highest levels of internal control while providing top quality service to CRM’s customers on a worldwide basis.

Key Responsibilities:

10% Develop knowledge and understanding of CRM commodity derivatives including commodity futures, swaps, and options. This is critical in order to facilitate proper verification of assigned operational processes including data integrity, documentation, and settlements.

40% Responsible for input and processing of transactions including documentation, trade maintenance, invoicing, and final settlement of transactions via cash and/or futures delivery. Follow up with customers for returned acknowledgement of transactions.

25% Ensure appropriate processes and controls are in place to accurately and efficiently document all trade transactions, ensure futures accounts are in balance on a daily basis, ensure expirations, settlements, cash transfers, money transfers, non-trade journals and other manual entries are completed on a daily basis.

15% Provide excellent customer service & build strong relationships with internal customers through timely responses/resolutions. Provide problem-solving expertise for the team related to operational issues.

5% Investigate opportunities to improve efficiency and focus for the Operations function surrounding key processes without compromising adherence to applicable policies and controls. Report any policy or regulatory issues to Compliance. Maintain current automated systems and look to further enhance capabilities as needed to support business growth/changes.

5% Participate in departmental projects as needed.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Demonstrate strong mathematical analytical skills & attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong internal control orientation.

  • High degree of accountability & ability to take initiative and work independently, perform well under pressure and establishing priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work occasional nonstandard business hours and to adapt positively to a changing environment.

  • Excellent customer relationship skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Accounting.

  • Experience in financial operations, banking, or related industry experience.

  • Previous experience in a trading environment or commodities business a plus.
