The Senior Reliability Engineering Lead is responsible to lead the reliability engineering function within the Salt Operations and Manufacturing Excellence group. The individual will be responsible to identify, lead and execute Salt group mechanical / structural / reliability engineering initiatives. This position is responsible for driving the improvement of the enterprise maintenance and reliability (M&R) and value creation from reliability engineering through leading and supporting overall reliability engineering strategy along with defect elimination activities.
The role develops and manages the design, installation and operational specification standards for mechanical and structural systems for the Salt group to align with Cargill corporate standards. This involves assisting other functional leaders in long-term planning, capital project engineering and technical talent development.
This position is a key leader in creating and managing change in the Reliability Engineering function for the business to optimize overall reliability within organization via tools such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Bad Actor Analysis, Failure Modes Effect Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
50% Reliability Engineering Domain Application
Lead and develop the reliability engineering function within Salt Group to drive asset health improvement and production process stability
Execute BU Maintenance & Reliability strategy and provide technical leadership across the Salt Group
Develops and implements best practices and strategies for asset reliability improvement in alignment with value creation & cost savings goals set by the Salt Group Manufacturing Excellence team
Drives consistent application of RCMs / RCAs and ensures consistent follow up.
Leads asset health improvement processes and asset health initiatives.
Responsible for the identification and delivery of the enterprise value creation through Reliability Engineering
Owns the Bad Actor identification, quantification and elimination process
35% Best Practice Governance & Application
Leads and sustains best practice governance process for asset reliability and equipment maintenance strategies within Salt Group
Utilizes leadership and expertise in the principles of Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous, aggressive defect elimination program that drives asset reliability improvement.
Conducts reliability sustainability assessments and follow up actions. Share / implement RE best practices across the Salt facilities
Provides knowledge, skill and experience to develop reliability engineering function knowledge within location supervisors and managers
15% Capital Project & Technical Governance
Interfaces directly with the project engineering team on reliability build deliverables to ensue reliability principles are applied on projects on site.
Provide technical knowledge and support on design, reliability engineering and commissioning of large capital projects within the Salt group
Approve mechanical and reliability aspects of technical reviews for capital projects within PDP process
Lead and/or support development of build, operate and maintain standards for mechanical and structural assets
Provide input to Cargill Strategic Sourcing to optimize reliability improvements for equipment classes and types
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or other technical discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing production, maintenance, engineering or project management.
Project management skills and the ability to work within and improve upon processes / systems.
Demonstrated knowledge / working understanding of manufacturing and operational processes.
Excellent written and oral communication skills (including the ability to present information to a formal group).
Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using formal techniques to evaluate systems, equipment, and failures.
Demonstrated experience in delivering costs savings through process optimization and working through others.
Experience using Reliability Centered Maintenance techniques, Root Cause Analysis, and Predictive Maintenance technologies. (E.g. Vibration analysis, infrared, acoustic emissions, tribology, etc.) to create a proactive work environment that is focused on continuous improvement at best cost.
Ability to travel >30% of the time.
Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification.
Qualification on Predictive Maintenance Technologies.
