Description

We are currently looking for an adventurous, passionate and spontaneous individual to fill the role of Trainee Trader on our vibrant Cocoa & Chocolate Asia desk.

This position will be based in Kuala Lumpur and will report to the Commercial Director for the business unit (BU) seated in Singapore. The individual will be given training on how to successfully trade and manage futures & physical risk in the ever-challenging cocoa market and will eventually be expected to work alongside the senior traders in optimizing profit flows for the BU in Asia.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assist senior trader in daily tasks: trade checking, position reconciliation, order execution, market analysis, contract creation, price-list building.

  • Help prepare monthly P&L.

  • Maintain and develop cocoa bean supplier network.

  • Act as liaison with factory in Indonesia to improve commercial/production interaction.

  • Collaborate with global trading team to devise gameplans around positioning, bean trading and product mismatches.

  • Conduct daily hedging of purchases made by origination office in Indonesia.

  • Prepare regular market updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in reputable course of study; those who are early in their career path will also be welcomed.

  • A highly analytical mind with the ability to think critically in order to solve problems creatively is a must.

  • Proactive, independent and able to perform with minimum supervision.

  • Good presentation skills as this role may be required to present information in a variety of settings for different stakeholders.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; must be comfortable in a multi-cultural setting.

  • Must demonstrate ability/willingness to step out of comfort zone as job will entail travel to remote and rural destinations for research and data gathering.

  • Command of Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.

  • Applied knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
