The Risk Management Group is looking for a Senior Data Scientist in its Risk Operations and Execution team to use their analytical, programming and technical capabilities to manipulate data from various sources and extract meaningful insights from data and optimise data driven business processes. Collaborating with the Risk Management Group and Global I.T., this role will deliver data and predictive analytics projects through experiments using pilots and prototypes followed by wider deployment where successful, and contribute to the team’s data, digitalisation and technology strategy.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Own and develop actionable analysis and business intelligence solutions and optimise data driven business processes to inform decision making

  • Import, organise and manipulate data from various complex structured and unstructured sources

  • Build data visualisations to communicate output to stakeholders

  • Plan experiments for the validation of solutions prior to production

  • Help build and promote enduring data science capability and roadmap


  • Degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics or related field

  • Proven experience providing actionable analysis and business intelligence for organisations, with a track record for delivering results

  • Strong programming experience and use of R, Python, SQL, Excel and Tableau

  • Statistical and mathematical modelling skills would be a distinct advantage but are not a requirement

  • Intrinsic motivation with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the organisation

  • Strong intellectual curiosity and the tenacity to research, explore and experiment

  • Passion for combining creativity and logical thinking to solve complex, loosely defined problems

  • Effective verbal and written communication e.g. collaborating in teams and stakeholder presentations

  • Experience and desire to work with and manipulate incomplete, noisy, inconsistent data

  • Experience with, or keen desire to gain experience with leveraging existing and emerging data and technology trends to support data and predictive analytics projects e.g. machine learning, algorithms, big data

  • Strong interest in supporting the direction and implementation of a data, digitalisation and technology strategy with significant scope for the right candidate to grow this position into a data science lead role
