Your Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join our Cargill team based in Newcastle on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Facility Manager, you will be responsible for enabling effective quality control capabilities, developing talent and applying your analytical skills leading to the generation of accurate, timely and reliable results for the crush plant’s (seed, meal and oil) and refinery plant’s (oils) physical and chemical analysis laboratory.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Overseeing laboratory performance and providing our customers and other areas of the Cargill team with timely required technical documentation;

  • Ensuring that sampling and quality targets are achieved

  • Mentoring, coaching and developing the laboratory technician team and maintaining all equipment calibrations and certifications.

  • Ensuring lab practices are aligned with other global labs.

Qualifications

All about you

As the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be a natural hands on leader and will be comfortable liaising with various stakeholders and thrive working in a fast pace environment. Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is desirable.

Additionally, to ensure your success in this role, you will possess:

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in agricultural science, chemistry, engineering, food science or related discipline

  • Experience in a senior laboratory / quality control role would be advantageous

  • Strong leader with excellent coordination, communication and time management skills

  • Experience in identifying trends and problem solving with results

  • Experience in partnering with a wider internal and external customer base

  • Experience in the calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments, (GC experience desirable)

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and understand who to engage with to assist with problem solving
