Position Purpose

The Category Advisor role is responsible for driving category management principles with Walmart through the application of strong data analytics. Interacts with Walmart as an expert in the field of category development, providing compelling presentations and analytics in support of category sales growth. Drives best practices involving space management, assortment analysis, feature ad optimization and profitability.Leverages available tools, technology, and syndicated data to improve the efficiency and consumer experience.Support strategic efforts to influence shelf, feature and assortment decisions.

Accountabilities

30%Synthesize insights and information into fact-based recommendations.

Deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly category performance reports and key insights to the customer’s buying team.

Ongoing independent analysis of the competitive marketplace, and ability to analyze and interpret syndicated data such as Nielsen and Spectra.

65%Work with customer buying team to execute plans and build modulars.

Responsible for developing and maintaining POG using JDA Space Planning.

Work closely with customer’s modular development team on seasonal relays, new store openings, and special projects.

Develop space and assortment recommendations that maximize category performance.

5%Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Excellent computer skills including Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and database management

  • Comfortable working one on one with buyers and senior management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • JDA Space Planning experience

  • Strong syndicated and sales data software experience, Retail Link and Nielsen

  • Experience in the perishable foods and/or meat category
