Job Description :

Utility operators are expected to perform in all four job classifications (bagger, warehouse, receiver and loader) safely and efficiently. We understand that utility operators spend the majority of their time in one role, but the expectation is that they will pursue adequate time/training in order to maintain their skill level in the other three classifications

Principal accountabilities :

Bagger Operator :

  • Drive forklift

  • Operation of packaging equipment.

  • Interface with computer software.

  • Monitor bag weights on scale.

  • Input production data into computer system.

  • Collect samples/Perform quality testing

  • Minor maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment

  • Housekeeping tasks (empty trash, bag cuttings, Spilled feed, dust)

  • Lock up/shut down/start up (lock doors, entry points, computer, etc.)

  • Repalletizing/disposal of distressed product.

  • Properly dispose of cardboard/poly/paper bags

  • Perform change over tasks

  • Restack product as needed

  • Fill bags as scheduled, communicate when empty bags are needed

  • Use shift overlap to communicate with office personal, bagger operator, warehouse operators and other loader operators

Loader Operator :

  • Drive forklift

  • Interface with computer software.

  • Monitor truck weights on scale.

  • Input production data into computer system.

  • Collect samples/Perform quality testing

  • Minor maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment

  • Housekeeping tasks (empty trash, Spilled feed, dust)

  • Direct fill feed into Transport Containers

  • Control/Troubleshoot equipment in packaging (scale, bins, conveyors, etc.)

  • Lockout equipment as needed, perform preventative maintenance on processing equipment

  • Operate and move trailers with Yard Dog, carry out paperwork for process

  • Load/inspect bulk container trucks ensure proper weight distribution

  • Lock up/shut down/start up (lock doors, entry points, computer, etc.)

  • Ensure product quality meets standards

  • Use shift overlap to communicate with office personal, bagger operator, warehouse operators and other loader operators

  • Bulk load product as needed into Super Sac.

Receiver Operator :

  • Drive forklift when needed

  • Directly unload feed into augur from rail car or trailers

  • Control/Troubleshoot equipment in receiving bay (bells, system routing conveyors, etc.)

  • Lockout equipment as needed, perform preventative maintenance on front-end loaders/ processing equipment

  • Operate and move railcars with Trackmobile, carry out paperwork for process

  • Collect samples/Perform quality testing

  • Lock up/shut down/start up (lock doors, entry points, computer, etc.)

  • Ensure product quality meets standards

  • Use shift overlap to communicate with office personal, bagger operator, warehouse operators and other loader operators

  • Housekeeping tasks (empty trash, Spilled feed, dust)

Warehouse Operator

  • Drive forklift

  • Load/unload packaged goods/raw material trucks with quality products using forklift

  • Restack product as needed (replace damaged bags and/or pallet)

  • Rotate product inventory in warehouse

  • Take inventory of finished goods (counting and scanning barcodes)

  • Rework damaged product

  • Operate Weber labeler

  • Apply pallet label to finished pallets received in warehouse

  • Ensure date coder is working properly

  • Pick individual items (bales/bags) and build complete pallets for customer orders

  • Re-order damaged feed/pet food bags (via FAX)

  • Lock-up/shut-down/start-up operation at beginning and end of week (lock doors, entry points, etc.)

  • Assist in loading bulk trucks via rail-to-truck transfer system as needed

  • Perform all housekeeping requirements (sweeping, emptying waste hoppers, wiping down equipment)

  • Communicate with office personal, bagger operator, loader operators and other warehouse operators

  • Supply empty bag pallets to bagger operator using forklift

  • Refill packaging equipment dispensers with slipsheets/pallets/stretchwrap/top-sheetManage time effectively during product change-overs (dump hoppers, set-up labeler, supply bags, etc)

  • Bail cardboard/poly/paper bags

  • Rotate empty bag inventory on a first in, first out basis

  • Assist in warehouse arrangement

  • Restack product as needed

Mixing Operator :

  • Operate mixer and blend feeds based on formula

  • Drive forklift when needed

  • Interface with computer software.

  • Input production data into computer system.

  • Collect samples/Perform quality testing

  • Minor maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment

  • Housekeeping tasks (empty trash, bag cuttings, Spilled feed, dust)

  • Lock up/shut down/start up (lock doors, entry points, computer, etc.)

  • Properly dispose of cardboard/poly/paper bags

  • Perform change over tasks

  • Lockout equipment as needed, perform preventative maintenance on front-end loaders/ processing equipment

Pellet Operator

  • Operate pellet mill and blend feeds based on formula

  • Drive forklift when needed

  • Interface with software.

  • Input production data into computer system.

  • Collect samples/Perform quality testing

  • Minor maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment

  • Housekeeping tasks (empty trash, bag cuttings, Spilled feed, dust)

  • Lock up/shut down/start up (lock doors, entry points, computer, etc.)

  • Properly dispose of cardboard/poly/paper bags

  • Perform change over tasks

  • Lockout equipment as needed, perform preventative maintenance on front-end loaders/ processing equipment

Qualifications

Required:

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old

  • Willing and able to work any shift required Monday through Sunday, including shifts up to 12 hours in length

  • Be physically able to perform the job duties including bending, stooping, shoveling, sweeping, pounding with hammers, climbing stairs and ladders, opening and closing valves, lifting up to 60 lbs., extended driving/riding/maneuvering of forklifts

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer

  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, with limited notice

Preferred :

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience operating a forklift and/or warehousingexperience

  • Experience with SAP and/or a HMI

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting industrialequipment (ex., packaging machinery, etc.)

  • Experienced at problem solving with co-workers

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and in apositive manner
