Position Purpose

Ocean Transportation oversees the Corporation’s bulk ocean freight business. This involves managing the bulk shipping risks and opportunities both for Cargill’s worldwide commodity activity (cargoes such as fertilizer, salt, grains, sugar, steel, crude oil, petroleum products, vegetable oils) and for a large number of third party customers in the mineral, agricultural and petroleum sectors. OT is one of the world’s largest bulk charterers.

The OT Contract Desk Group is a control function of the Finance family closely connected to the Commercial & Middle Office teams. Its main accountability is to ensure all trading information is accurate and complete at the end of the trading day. As part of the Contract desk, the Trade Administrator has primarily a control role to ensure consistency between IMOS Trade entries and the Broker recap. Trade Administrator will ensure that the contract entry is as per the process guidelines and that the contracts are entered in the system in a timely manner. The Trade Adimistrator has direct oversight and is responsible for the execution of the control/compliance procedures and the documentation of the work.

Principal Accountabilities

Trade Entry Check 80%

in close collaboration with Trading Assistants

  • Check System entry against the Trade recap

  • Check Contract Entry as per the process guidelines

  • Ensure that contracts are entered in a timely manner

  • Monitor Option declaration

  • Check Contract Documentation

  • Carry out checks like

  • Vetting (RightShip)

  • Transfer Price

  • Permanent Establishment Risk

Additional Responsibilities 20%

  • Provide process management support: Acting as a Trade Capture Process SME, Reporting process performance metrics, maintaining Process documentation…

  • Provides support for process improvements to ensure system and data accuracy and efficiency as business develops

  • Participate to projects: Transactional System Enhancements and Regression Testing

Education, Experience,


  • Technical Diploma - 12 years

  • Fluent English spoken/written, other languages an advantage

  • PC skills: Microsoft Office (Outlook e-mail messaging), Excel

  • Strong shipping knowledge: ability to understand Charter Party terms, technicalities, jargons and contractual language.


  • Ability to conduct data analysis

  • Numerate

  • Meticulous and high attention to detail

  • Ability to detect inaccuracies, ambiguities or inconsistencies

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral & written)

  • Ability to learn

  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined and resilient
