Internships at Cargill:

Protein Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Internship:

As a Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR) Intern, you will have exposure to the workflow of the business operations, and develop knowledge of protein processing production, including:

  • HACCP (science-based Food Safety program)

  • Environmental Safety

  • Occupational Safety

  • Automation

  • GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)

  • Food Processing

  • Statistical Process Control

  • Using Computers for Information and Analysis

You will learn to perform analytical test procedures and instrumental analysis on process, final product, air, and water samples as well as learn how to monitor the processing activities of the various departments within the plant facility. You will be assigned special projects to complete. These projects will consist of current opportunities that we are facing in our industry and within the business. Interns will be responsible for the results of their own projects.

Environment:

  • Cargill FSQR labs are located in an industrial/processing plant environment. Our plants are fast paced and challenging.

  • This job involves physical activity which generally requires a moderate amount of exertion on a fairly regular basis – involving bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. The work may also involve other exertions, conditions or exposures (i.e.- heat, cold, working in wet environment).

Internship Programming:

  • Cargill offers both housing assistance and relocation reimbursement to interns who qualify (based on mileage).

  • Internships are paid and are at least 12 weeks in duration.

  • Day–to-day transportation to and from work is the responsibility of the intern.

  • Attend Intern Forum, an event held at Cargill headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, designed to give exposure to leadership and cross-functional interns from across the U.S.

  • Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered a full-time position for the following year.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Sophomores or Juniors pursuing a Bachelor in a 4 year technical science degree (Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology or related science degree)

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer

  • Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June - August 2018)

  • All candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity anywhere in the U.S.

  • Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance

  • Must be able to complete essential functions of this job as outlined in the job description with reasonable accommodations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Overall 3.0 GPA preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
