The FSQR Specification and Labeling Professional will be responsible for insuring specifications and labels are accurate and up to date in Notes System and Protean. Working within specific location, across multiple locations (as appropriate) and with the corporate Specs and Labeling team to address new product specifications, existing product specification updates and customer specifications. Responsible for regulatory compliance (FSIS) on label changes within the plant. Insure consistent specification and labeling audits within each facility to ensure ongoing compliance. Responsible for insuring the plant is prepared for third party and customer audits. Key member of FSQR Team and their corresponding Operations Team within the plant. This position may require up to 1-2 weeks of travel per year.
50% Ensure implementation of MOC process and plant procedures to address new product specifications and existing product specification changes/updates within multiple facilities. Facilitate implementation of product specification changes and updates to Notes System. Work with R&D and product management to improve upon product requirements in the specifications. Participate in weekly new product / product improvement calls with product management and R&D and aid in setting up specifications for new products. Manage temporary and permanent specification changes.
15% Qualtrax system maintenance.
10% Monitor labeling changes and compliance to FSIS Regulatory requirements. Interface with Corporate Regulatory, Specification and labeling team on labeling updates and specification changes.
10% Prepare for and participate in third party, corporate and customer audits.
10% Responsible for the training, development, goal setting, and performance reviews for one FSQR/R&D associate responsible for sales samples and product cutting.
5% Participate in weekly food safety team meetings. Fill in for FSQR Supervisors as needed.
4-year Bachelor’s degree
1 year or more experience in food manufacturing plant FSQR/quality assurance, plant operations, R&D, or specs and labeling
Technical knowledge in the areas of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs
Self-starter with ability to prioritize activities.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Excellent computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook a must)
Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative
Good organizational and analytical problem-solving skills / ability to analyze and make recommendations based on data
Ability to facilitate small and large cross-functional teams
4 years or more experience in food manufacturing plant FSQR/quality assurance, plant operations, R&D, or specs and labeling
Bachelor’s degree or higher in scientific or technical field (microbiology, biology, chemistry, food science, animal science, etc.)
Experience with fully cooked deli and sliced meat production, technical competency in meat science
Experience with Qualtrax, Pi, SAP, PFS, and/or Lotus Notes (specification system).
Lean Six Sigma or other statistical process improvement and root cause analysis skills
