Position Purpose:

Cargill Salt is looking for an energetic and passionate candidate to provide administrative support work for the Watkins Glen facility. The role provides payroll support to the operations team at Watkins Glen. Provides administrative support for EHS and Manufacturing Excellence efforts across the Watkins Glen facility. Operates mainly unsupervised.

As part of this team you will assist with office logistics, coordination of community enrichment activities, employee programs and recognition activities, you have the opportunity to shape the brand image and perception of the business.

Principal Accountabilities:

50% Administrative:

  • Distribute interoffice and outside mail

  • Plan company functions and facility activities as needed; schedule audiograms, eye exams and biometric screening

  • Support site community enrichment

  • Coordinate employee programs and recognition activities

  • Create employee communications for the site

  • Maintain site paperwork, records/files

  • Manage office and plant supplies

  • IT contact for facility

  • Handle vacation tracking for plant and office

  • Administer payroll entry/changes

  • Assist Facility Manager with administrative tasks as needed.

  • Other responsibilities as needed to support site administrative needs

35% Operational:

  • Develop, edit, maintain operational documentation and records in accordance with RIM requirements

  • Manage tracking and follow-up of corrective actions for root cause analysis, safety, food safety, audits, and inspections

  • Provide support for site production activities

10% Site Production:

  • Create and generate purchase orders, procure various materials / services as required to support the facility

  • Point of contact for local vending and supply companies

5% Safety:

  • Plan facility safety functions as needed; maintain BST records; order safety supplies; coordinate employee safety meetings; assist EHS/Facility Manager with training and track safety hours


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (additional post high school course work a plus)

  • 1 or more years of experience in customer service, operations or admin experience.

  • Proven collaboration skills, ability to work effectively within a process centered/multi-functional organization

  • 1 or years of strong verbal, written, interpersonal/customer service skills. Able to influence others and deliver compelling and authentic messages

  • Proven ability on time management, prioritization and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities

  • 1 or more years of experience on the following programs, Excel, Outlook and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP knowledge and experience

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex process and SAP system problems

  • This role provides valuable experience in working with Salt customers, vendors, carriers, and contractors, as well as foundational knowledge in understanding processes in operations, supply chain, procurement and human resources, which could lead to a wide range of opportunities.

  • Working conditions involve primarily working in an office environment with heavy computer work, and occasional exposure to a plant environment

  • This position requires sedentary or light activity (exerting up to 10-20 lbs of force occasionally)

  • Primary physical activity includes: Talking, hearing, seeing, typing/e-mailing, filing of materials, walking, standing (periodically)

Other essential functions/requirements include: Ability to solve complex problems, ability to work independently and prioritize/organize own work; willing to accept accountability and work collaboratively in a team environment.
