Strategic Sourcing & Procurement is a global organization with regional category teams in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific that, along with a strong core team and procurement alignment, are implementing new sourcing strategies to support Cargill businesses and functions. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement employees gain broad exposure to Cargill businesses as they drive tangible value for the organization.
Regional category teams are organized around 5 category areas that drive spend activity for chemicals/energy, ingredients, packaging, plant materials and services, and corporate materials and services. Regional category teams develop and drive regional and global category strategies to leverage Cargill's position in the market, drive stronger connectivity, accountability and relationships with Cargill businesses, and clearly understand the requirements of the businesses they support. This position is primarily responsible to develop category knowledge/best practices to lead total cost of ownership efforts for regional PM&S (Plant Materials & Services) sub-categories of Protein Processing Equipment and Technology. This position reports directly into the NA PM&S Lead for North America and is key to our internal relationship with Protein Business and Manufacturing Technology organization.
25% - Sub-Category Strategy Development and Stakeholder Management
Develop expertise in Protein processing equipment, technology and automation. Position will be responsible for the OPEX and CAPEX spend of the categories.
Lead and Manage the Protein Equipment Sub-Category by developing and engaging key stakeholder network and bringing in industry knowledge, best practices and insights.
Develop and maintain alignment with Protein Stakeholders on priorities, business needs, defining value, key customer requirements, forecasted spend, innovation, etc.. in the Protein Equipment category.
Aligning and working with cross functional teams from Global Sub-Category Leads, Regional Sub-Category Leads, COE, Business Relationship Managers (BRM), and Buyers to ensure the sourcing strategies and end-to-end process meet CSSP and Business objectives.
Continue to seek new ways to bring value to Cargill and Protein Business through intimate understanding of business needs and industry developments/benchmarks.
Coordinate activities and projects for indirect buyers assigned to the sub-category.
60% - Category Sourcing Process Development and Execution
Develop detailed understanding of the current subcategory activity within Cargill, e.g., spend profile, supplier performance, industry innovations, best practices, benchmarking and sharing.
Develop category playbooks to document knowledge and strategy. [market dynamics, supplier economics, supply channels, total cost of ownership, technology improvements, hypotheses, and negotiation plans]
Utilize market intelligence, business operations and spend data and analytics to refine sourcing strategies, inform suppliers of performance, and drive continuous improvement.
Lead implementation of category projects down through business enterprises to the facilities. Manage communication, processes, issue resolution, and ongoing category management.
Develop and maintain Supplier Relationship Management and Key Performance Indicators for the Category and specific contracts. Escalation point for vendor performance and driving innovation.
Lead and Manage RFX’s, Negotiations, Supplier Qualifications, Risk Assessments for sub-category.
Develop and manage contracts and select supplier agreements.
Work with Capital Sourcing Team to implement strategies, pricing, and best practices into capital projects.
Develop diverse suppliers in sub-category as part of Cargill’s commitment to the community.
Accountable for delivering on value goals for the sub-category and continuously finding ways to improve value delivery and improve efficiency.
15% Processes and Systems
Support Source-to-Pay processes for sub-category. Ensuring operational ERP contracts, catalogs, purchasing systems are up to date and requestors have the necessary information.
Clean and update data systems, spend analytics, contract management systems, compliance reporting to manage the sub-category.
Preferred location for this position is Wichita, Kansas. Minneapolis, MN & Blair, NE considered locations\
Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or Supply Chain preferred)
4 years of plant operations, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing technology and/or maintenance experience
2 years of demonstrated project management skills
2 years of experience leading complex projects involving multiple internal stakeholders
Plant operations and protein experience.
Previous sourcing or negotiations experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization
Basic knowledge of strategy development
4 year degree in Engineering
Background in Lean Six Sigma
Familiar with Business Analytics Tools (Zycus), Ariba eSourcing and Contracts, Ariba Procure to X, SAP, PowerBI.
Strong analytical, business process analysis & problem solving capabilities
Ability to multi-task and coordinate initiatives in a virtual team environment
Demonstrated ability influencing senior leaders.
