Description

Position Purpose

Responsible for managing, through subordinate supervisors, the day to day operations of space on 3 campuses (including corporate headquarters facility) to ensure the operations, maintenance, building automation, safety standards, and workflow management are met in a cost effective, safe and efficient manner. Responsible for developing and administrating operating budgets. Leads O&M facility staff through subordinate supervisors and communicates operating philosophy, objectives and expectations.

Principal Accontabilities

25% Ensures that all buildings on two local campuses are operated and maintained in a cost-effective and safe condition by providing the technical and management direction for maintenance, operations & work management.

25% Direct the day-to-day operations of the maintenance, work management, and building automation teams by providing technical expertise and guidance to professional staff and managing resolution of complex problems.

25% Supervise office service staff and contractors that carry out services including security, mail room, meeting room scheduling/setup/services, maintenance, IT, and janitorial services.

15% Oversee and approve expenditures for tools, equipment, supplies, materials, and contract services as needed.

10% Develop and administer operating budgets to ensure appropriate resources are in place and established assets management functions are completed appropriately. Participates in Capital Expenditure planning and administration for operations and maintenance functions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Facilities, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Business

  • Demonstrated team-building experience and the ability to work with multi-discipline service delivery teams including professional staff, technical experts, trades, and service staff

  • Experienced in developing and administering operating budget >$5myl

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to multi-level audiences, including senior business leadership

  • Intermediate or above skill with MS Office

  • Commitment to worker safety and knowledge of OSHA/ANSI

Preferred

  • 10 years of work experience in managing contractors or equivalent work experience.

  • Six Sigma, lean manufacturing and/or other systems training and certifications.

  • Industry-specific certification(s) in related disciplines such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Professional Engineer (PE), etc. Experienced in accomplishing work through subordinate supervisors

  • Ability to professionally resolve conflict that may occur if department managers have unrealistic expectations of building services.

  • SME knowledge in order to lead and assist solutions for challenging security, maintenance, and IT issues that may arise from time to time, and ability to provide triage corrections in a safe manner until contractors are available for permanent correction.
