Manage Cargill food safety and brand integrity when accidents and other high risk transportation related shipping issues occur. Protect multiple Cargill business units from cargo freight related losses by reviewing, approving, filing, and collecting those losses from carriers and/or their insurance companies within timelines that have been mandated by Cargill corporate leadership team. Proactively engage plant teams, sales teams, and Cargill contracted freight carriers in processes to reduce transportation service related failures of deliveries to customers. 30% Review and approve or deny carrier claims to recover BU losses 20% Gather documentation from carriers/customers/Business units to support claims against carriers. Sort and maintain data base tracking from initial receipt of claim to filing claim with the carrier.
35% Collect carrier claims and manage A/R for claims invoices
15% Proper notification of sales , plant teams, and USDA of major shipping nonconformance’s
15% Involve transportation senior management in negotiations with carriers, and obtain authorization for any deductions or carrier claim invoice write offs.
5% Provide support to claims assistant and trans team special projects
Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in business, logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or a related degree) OR 5 yrs. equivalent experience in claims filing, accounting or negotiations with transportation service providers.
3 yrs. or more of logistics, transportation or supply chain experience, with Cargill communication systems – AS400, Microsoft excel, word, outlookBasic understanding of DOT hours of service
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel, Outlook, Word and Access.
Ability to adapt to change and work well in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, including sound prioritization, sense of urgency and multi-tasking
Effective, clear and professional communication skills
Demonstrated strong client and customer focus
Excellent grammatical and spelling, mathematical and organizational skills, multi-tasker with attention to detail
General understanding of the needs for refrigerated freight maintenance and delivery
Ability to interpret product specifications.
Preferred - Prior working experience within one of Cargill’s business units
Experience in claims processing
Functional knowledge of SAP, BluJay
