The Supply Chain Product Lead is responsible for leading and supervising a product line across the organization including supply chain operations, process development planning and execution. The role also interacts with various stakeholders across the business and customers to provide optimal service to customers while optimizing Protein Group results.
45% Supply Chain Operations
Interacts with multiple areas in the Cargill supply chain such as customer service, supply chain planning, strategic sourcing/procurement, plant operations, and transportation & logistics (i.e. order, plan, source, make and deliver).
Manages and regularly contributes to the development of projects and process improvements in the supply chain organization to drive continuous improvement to excellence standards.
Administers and approves measures to improve on customer reliability and service level agreements, as well as action plans to improve on customer.
Develops and reinforces processes, and ensures best practices are shared.
Manages process to ensure all customer requirements are identified, communicated and documented. Maintains relationships with plant operations to ensure adequate inventory is available, and customer requirements are within operational capabilities.
Sets product specifications for operational purposes. Understands, reviews and analyzes for opportunities to improve product, reduce cost, combine with like producst and identify potential alternative formulas to use available raw materials.
Provides general leadership and guidance to the development of the delivery process to meet customer demand. Monitors coordination of supply between plants and warehouses across a limited subset of the organization.
May participate on a Leadership team to connect supply chain strategy to overall business strategy. Uses this framework to develop a complex outlook and vision for a large product line.
40% Customer, Internal Stakeholder and Business Partnership
Participates on cross-functional leadership teams for the purpose of sharing knowledge and experience, as well as best practices.
Guides the management of strategic contacts within the commercial team, operations, and Cargill Transportation & Logistics (CTL) to ensure team is managing stakeholders efficiently.
Sponsors and manages the development of innovative supply chain solutions through applying a specialized understanding of supply chain practices and procedures.
Provides management oversight to medium-size team for ensuring customer expectations are met from production through order fulfillment.
Facilitates and contributes to cross-functional product line teams in follow-up, investigation, and documentation of internal and external non-conformances, root causes and corrective actions.
Develops a strong understanding of customer needs through building internal and external relationships to provide optimal service to Cargill’s customers. Where appropriate, build relationships with external parties such as consultants and agents.
Supports R&D activities in new product development, finalizing product and packaging specs. Supports the business lead in finalizing product launch plans. Leads the implementation of new product in the supply chain as well as executing the product life cycle.
Has joint accountability for optimizing production resources (assets, raw materials, and labor). Provides input and guidance on product and production decisions to Business Leads and SC Planning. Analyzes the use of raw materials and determines opportunities for optimization.
Deliver supply side capabilities intelligence as an input to Business Leads for decision making and customer conversations. Navigate BOSC to deliver deep product / technical / operations expertise to the Channels including technical requirements and costs.
Support SC Planning and SC Leads in gathering information and preparing for Monthly Supply reviews.
Serve as the PRT chain to facilitate individual projects through the process. Responsible for pulling together the appropriate team members for each project.

Interface with CSSP on copacker agreement structure and commercial terms

10% Data Management, Reporting and Analysis
Evaluates supply and demand calculations for a large/complex product line.
Understands costs and cost models and conducts analysis to determine opportunities to improve the overall health of the product portfolio.
Evaluates performance against competitive external benchmarks to determine relative performance versus the industry and identify opportunities for improvement.
Provides direction to team on the management of supply chain systems and tools used within their area.
Utilizes demand, production and sales reports created by more junior members of the team to assess production efficiencies and costs.
Reviews and monitors scorecard and related KPI’s within a medium-size team. Ensures team is establishing and maintaining key supply chain metrics.
5% People and Talent
Accountable for performance management, talent development, succession planning and engagement directly and through subordinate supervisors.
Manages and provides coaching and/or training to team, including coaching Cargill core values, personal safety, environmental stewardship and community involvement.
Provides oversight to subordinate supervisors in the selection of staff and other employees; determines resource need, plans for future workforce needs, and approves selection decisions.
Responsible for budgeting duties within area of scope (forecasting, reporting P&L, etc.).

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Operations, Supply Chain (procurement, materials, logistics) and Continuous Improvement with a proven track record of strong performance results
Deep Product expertise on assigned product/platform
Demonstrated operational and technical knowledge including technical requirements, capacities and costs.
Understanding of supply side market intelligence.
Knowledge and experience in S&OP, cross functional roles and / or an Integrated Business Planning consultative role
Strong knowledge of relevant Supply Chain Planning best practices, multi-step strategic and internal sourcing
Knowledge of P&L and Balance Sheet best practices
Hands on experience using and specifying planning, DRP, inventory controls, replenishment, and warehouse management in ERP and leading planning software solutions is strongly preferred
Evaluates situations objectively and demonstrates personal flexibility in approach and ideas, responds positively and supports changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility and assignments that have a positive impact
Organizes and prioritizes work assignment to complete assignments/tasks on time with quality.
Demonstrated supervisory and team leadership experience.
Advanced degree, MS and/or MBA
Supply Chain Management Degree or APICS CPIM and/or CSCP Certification
Experience working in a large complex organization
Experience with Lean/Six Sigma
