Position Purpose & Summary

The Transportation Support Supervisorleads Transportation Support activities for the Proteins business units, providing tactical follow-up and managing logistics activities/processes. This includes scheduling, monitoring, and administering outbound and inbound truck shipment track and trace and transportation event follow up in an effective, efficient manner consistent with both market / legal requirements and Cargill’s requirements. The Transportation Support Supervisor acts as a liaison for internal business unit clients, carrier and logistics service provider personnel and other stakeholders for logistics expertise and assistance to resolve complex logistics issues, and react to unexpected changes. This position will oversee processes for respondint to critical transportation changes such as diversions and load recoveries as well as providing input on root causes for delays and errors.The Transportation Support Supervisor will also partner with business units and the transportation function to develop, recommend, and implement metrics for process improvement, including benchmarking and providing cost analysis for a variety of purposes including project planning.

Principal Accountabilities

50%Oversee the day to day business activities of the Refrigerated Truck Transportation Support team across various aspects of internal and external customer interactions including shipment timeliness, load recovery, customer complaint follow up, claims documentation, food safety, Cargill safety requirements, customer solutions, incident tracking and supplier performance measurement.Provide work direction, coaching and building an engaged work team.

20%Collaborate with other internal functions and business units to effectively manage service and costs to meet strategic goals in the transportation arena.Build strong internal business unit clients relationships by providing transportation support and knowledge.Manage Business Seasonality for Proteins businesses including Turkey, and grilling season volume increases.

20% Leverage data and analytics to manage performance through carrier performance monitoring, supplier scorecarding andtracking key performance indicators.Recommend/implement improvements.

10% Develop and maintain vendor relationships with Cargill transportation carriers, brokers and logistics service providers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, supply chain, logistics or transportation, or a related degree

  • Minimum 3-5 years Transportation or related experience

  • Experience partnering with businesses to understand business requirements and translating them into implemented actions

  • Possess analytical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.

  • Advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external

  • Able to prioritize work under stress environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related field

  • Have demonstrated the ability to learn and apply new concepts and methods

  • Operational experience within a commerical truck line and/or brokerage

  • Customer and vendor relationship management and negotiation

  • Innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices
