Position Purpose & Summary

The FSQR Site Manager will develop and implement quality systems and assure defect free and food safe products. The role will assure cost efficient operation of the quality control laboratory, assure regulatory compliance, and maintain positive customer relationships. The role will implement and improve corporate food safety and safety requirements, as required. This position will collaborate with the local leadership team and is responsible for all quality, food safety, and food regulatory activities at the site. These activities include, but are not limited to, maintenance and development of the Quality Management Systems, quality control laboratory, customer concern resolution, plant quality improvements, and employee development and training.

Principal Accountabilities

25% Serve as site HACCP/Food Safety coordinator to lead quality and food safety continuous improvement initiatives and

development of the site food safety staff

20% Proactively and appropriately manage food safety, quality and regulatory risks

20% Assure facility and products meet local regulations and regulations of the geographies served

15% Partner with operations to build a strong food safety culture at the site and assure that pre-requisite programs are

effective for producing a safe food product including the implementation of new materials through collaboration with procurement, R&D and Operations

10% Lead customer, regulatory, and certification audits

10% Investigate production problems and customer problems and create preventive procedures



  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferably in Chemistry, Biology, or Food Science with 5 years of Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) and Food Safety experience

  • Previous supervisory experience OR demonstrated leadership and team building skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and technical skills including knowledge of FSMA requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety management systems – HACCP/HARPC, GHPs, and Supplier Qualification Processes

  • Ability to move fluidly in priority setting and execution skills

  • Proven ability in managing multiple priorities and delegation

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Previous food industry experience

  • Demonstrated high level of problem solving ability to make prompt decisions

  • Ability to effectively communicate, influence and drive improvements with a diverse group of people with varying levels of education in formal and informal settings

  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of food safety, safety, quality, productivity, and cost

  • Ability to travel (10%)


  • 3 years’ experience as an FSQR Specialist or Supervisor in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with dry product blending

  • Experience with food starch and hydrocolloids

  • Experience working in the following systems: SAP and lab management software

  • Project management skills

  • Self-motivated

  • Knowledge of FSMA and multiple areas of FSQR

  • Ability to impact team cultures without direct reporting

  • Experience in interacting with key Cargill customers

  • Experience interacting with external manufacturers

  • Flexible, able to work nights and weekends when necessary
