Strategic Marketing & Pricing Manager

Bring new customer solutions and innovations to the india market in collaboration with global innovation teams, local sales and marketing teams . Drive revenue and margin optimization decisions using data analytics.

Strategic Marketing

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to bring customer innovations to the Indian market (new products, services and solutions)

  • Project manage development and commercialization of innovation projects

  • Cohesively work with sales leaders to develop and implement customer level plans


  • Responsible for improving the quality of the earnings by utilizing pricing concepts like Economic Value Added, Lifetime value of a customer & pocket margin.

  • Implement pricing analytics and tools to enable better pricing decisions



Market Analysis, Customer segmentation, Competitor benchmarking( 20%)

Continuously update the market models for Dairy and Poultry. Refine our understanding of market size estimates by product category, by customer segments, and by regions in India

Collaborate with commercial teams to create and then maintain a competitor database

  • Product portfolio benchmarking (benchmark once a year, can be performed in phases – species A in Q1, species B in Q2, generic premixes in Q3 etc)

  • Service and solutions portfolio benchmarking

  • Price benchmarking – for top 3 competitors in each product category

Customer Focus : Ensure that the business remains relevant and is perceived as better than the competition in target customer segments(30%)

  • Proactively update customer segmentation and customer unmet needs.

  • Identify gaps in our customer offerings, quantify opportunities and drive the innovation agenda.

  • Ensure robust management and execution of innovation projects, utilizing Cargill’s Customer Focused Development methodology.

  • Collaborate with commercial teams to develop customer segment level or individual customer level targeted marketing and sales plans.

Data Analytics to identify sales and gross margin growth opportunities(10%)

Identify opportunities for higher sales & margins

  • Product portfolio and pricing gaps: Based on customer needs, market trends, competitor offerings and our own strengths and capabilities

  • Customer wise opportunities/ gaps for key customer

  • Opportunities to improve sales effectiveness: Reach, education, trial, adoption, service

Provide guidance and be ready to get involved in implementing technological solutions for automating processes

Implement Strategic Pricing (40% )

  • Develop pricing models and pricing tools that consolidates all inputs (customer invoice price, moving average cost price, current market costs of ingredients and trends, sales volumes, inventory, competitor price benchmarks)

  • Perform price trend analysis, price sensitivity analysis and come up with price negotiation guidelines that aligned to category price strategy

  • Creatively identify and execute on margin improvement projects to improve profitability.

  • Recommend pricing moves and competitive responses

  • Evaluate win/loss data for early signs of a change in market behavior

  • Drive effective price communications

Essential Functions/Requirements.

Based out of Bangalore, with frequent travel to customer locations across India


Education: MBA from tier 1 schools in India (ISB, IIM - A, B, C)


3-5 years’ experience in one or more of the following: Strategic Marketing, Pricing Analytics, Revenue management, Customer Planning

Management Consulting or FMCG Industry background will be an advantage (for e.g. Accenture, AT Kearney, HUL, ITC, P&G )

Skills (applied knowledge and technical skills directly related to this position)

  • Tier 1 MBA

  • 3 -5 years profitability analysis and pricing economics experience

  • Great with numbers & high Analytical skills

  • Financial knowledge for P&L and margin/price decision making

  • Process mindset

  • Strong communication and influencing skills. Ability to present in front of business leadership.

  • Demonstrated initiative, curosity and potential to go beyond the described role as the team responsibilities evolve

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels and functions of the organization

  • High Business and Comercial Acumen and demonstrated capability and track record

  • Hand-on mentality, analytical skills and business development / project management skills
