Position Purpose & Summary
The Beef Nutritionist & Technical Sales Professional position is responsible for technical nutritional leadership for the Beef Product Line in the Feed Segment of Cargill’s North American corn wet milling business. This includes building, developing and maintaining internal/external customer/client/prospect relationships and researching and identifying customer needs for creation and development of new concepts and products. The role will interact with nutritional consultants and customer organizations and provide key sales and technical support in conjunction with the beef sales force for commercial cattle feeding customers primarily in Nebraska and the Texas Panhandle. Work activities also include directing research for product development, presenting/developing technical solutions, provide technical support for marketing and sales material development, and provide guidance for production processes that can impact nutritional or customer value.
25%Build, Develop & Maintain Internal/External Customer/Client Relationships: Establish, develop and build strong working relationships across the commercial beef cattle feeding space, with emphasis on strategic & highly complex customers. Targeted interactions with consulting nutritionists, feed yard personnel and industry influencers. Provide technical leadership and partnering with the beef commercial team to acquire new business from prospective customers or to increase adoption of new products within the existing customer base. Collaborate with integrated functional areas (e.g. customer service, planning, supply chain, plant operations, etc.) to ensure delivery and full execution of the brand promise in all product and service parameters.
25%Research & Identify Customer/Business Needs including Solution Identification & Proposal Development/Sales Execution/Value Optimization & Technical Strategy: Utilizing complex industry and nutritional knowledge, provide technical leadership and direction to ensure delivery of complex customer solutions (including ration formulations, limited consulting, understanding of risk management, etc.). Provide support for customer service issues, new product development, marketing strategies, and other key value propositions using recognized technical and product expertise.
20%Research & Lead Solutions based on Nutritional Knowledge for Evaluation of Feed Ingredients and Feed Products: Provide leadership and support for understanding the nutritional and non-nutritional value of corn milling feed ingredients and products fed to beef feedlot cattle and high producing lactating dairy cattle. Assess risks and opportunities of changes in supply and quality of current feed ingredients and potential new ingredients. Provide leadership and support to sales, customer service, FSQR, and operations personnel in determining and understanding nutritional and non-nutritional issues that could impact the brand value of branded feed products.
20%Achievement of Performance Targets; Measurement & Results: Responsible for introducing new business, generating profitable new accounts, and growth of existing targeted accounts through identification and recommending new technologies and marketing opportunities related to customer needs. Provide support for the development and execution of annual sales strategy ensuring understanding of brand requirements, strategic importance, and market & pricing tactics. Drive execution and delivery of defined & quantifiable sales targets through implementation of detailed sales plan focusing on both personal accounts and technical support to other team member’s accounts.
10%Project Planning, Problem Resolution, Sales/Customer Education, Communication & Consultation: Train, develop and coach sales, customer service & others with necessary technical expertise supporting profitable business growth. Educate customers & consultants on all aspects of product usages, inclusion levels, formulation, potential costs savings & profitability impact, etc. Drive cross-selling opportunities and partnership with other Cargill organizations as appropriate. Additional projects as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills
Minimum Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Animal Science or another animal feed/technical related field
Ability to adapt, learn and provide leadership in a complex changing work environment
Ability to manage conflict – internal & external
Proven ability to develop relationships and work in a cross-functional, matrix organization where building alignment and trust is critical to success
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate through written, verbal and presentation skills with multiple levels of Cargill and customer organizations
Ability to build, lead, delegate and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Ability to lead through influence
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and organize/prioritize to meet business objectives
Self- starter with strong independent decision making and analytical skills. Attention to detail

Ability to travel up to 60%
PhD in Ruminant Nutrition
Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical services/sales or nutritional consulting or 5 years in B2B selling
Extensive knowledge of and experience with the commercial cattle feeding industry
Knowledge of and experience with corn milling industries and feeding of products from those industries
Experience with successful commercialization of new to market products
Solid understanding of supply chain and manufacturing processes and the interrelationship with Commercial teams
