Description

Responsible for applying Environment, Health and Safety practices and standards for the Brampton, Ontario Grind facility. Provides location leadership and direction in the following areas of focus: development and implementation of EHS strategy, maintenance and continuous improvement of EHS results, and shaping of the internal EHS culture.

This position is a member of the plant leadership team.

Principal Accountabilities

30% Champion a Zero Harm Culture where every stakeholder goes home as they came by ensuring processes such as Behaviour Based Safety, near miss reporting, root cause analysis and other key elements of the safety management system are functioning at a high level. This includes analysis of data to identify trends, removal of barriers and recognition of safe behaviors; coaching of supervisors, ensuring training is quality and timely.

25% Maintain and improve EHS Management Systems to ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial, Local and Cargill Health and Safety Requirements as well as Environmental. This includes: program development, training activities, record keeping and incident investigation.

15% Responsible for facility’s Ergonomic program including development of PDDs, performing data analysis to identify trends in Ergonomic risk and recommending preventive measures, and maintaining the Ergonomic scorecard.

10% Provide training to the plant team in the EHS area and maintain all training records

10% Conduct routine LIFEsavers field checks, Behavior Based Observations, and Near-Miss observations; conduct facility inspecitons to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions, maintain Enablon reporting.

10% Collaborate with Corporate EHS, Plant Management, Health Services staff, and any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS or Diploma in Health and Safety, Ergonomics or related field

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

  • 3 years experience in EHS related field

  • Federal and Provincial Regulatory knowledge

  • Organizational and computer/data management skills

  • Strong knowledge of basic computer skills with experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

  • Demonstrated communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)

  • Possess team building skills and ability to influence others

  • Capable of building collaborative working relationships

  • Possess ability to delegate and hold self and others accountable

  • Ability to deal with conflict

  • Possess problem solving skills

  • Effective presentation and training skills

  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis experience

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

  • Ability to work in cold environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience dealing with government agencies

  • Experience or background in Ergonomics

  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or working towards
