Assuming leading responsibilities for a specific product line (Wheat, barley or corn) of the origination and trading process. Handles the supply & demand of a certain area, connecting the 2 ends of the supply chain while identifying opportunities that arise. Monitoring the logistic execution, cost elements, payment.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Accountable for accurate reported positions, daily prices, hedge FOREX; calculating and reconciling P&L and calculating daily margins, costs and prices through communication with Geneva, even if passed as tasks to a junior trader. – 5%

  • Accountable for analyzing and keeping up to date the SND and support in developing opportunities for both local and export markets to maximize origination/margins, even if passed on as tasks for junior traders. – 5%

  • Part of elaborating the gameplans with the hub and MM, and also trading budget and elaborating the strategy for reaching the budgeted figures. – 5%

  • Accountable for reaching the budgeted results for the product in charge of. – 10%

  • Handle business practices & logistics to support merchants/trade execution – 5%

  • In relations with suppliers/clients, negotiate and conclude the deal (sale/purchase contract) – 10%

  • Managing key accounts, identifying and developing new accounts relevant to the growth of the business. - 5%

  • Identifying ways to access new markets in order to secure the farm access necessary for the sales team – 5%

  • Identifying ways to access key logistic facilities and in a broader area, solutions for logistics issues. - 5%

  • send and discuss daily prices to/with the field representatives and customers – 10%

  • seek and gather specific information from the market, accumulate knowledge related to the industry, the commodities and consolidate into daily/weekly reports. – 5%

  • Accountable to ensure that all contracts are in compliance with legal demands – 5%

  • Support the execution team for problem solving on the execution of the contracts and agree on the planning of the logistics for the ongoing contracts. -5%

  • Spend 20% of working time visiting customers, farmers and suppliers to have a broad understanding of their business, market context and build strong partnerships. – 20%

  • Perform other working tasks in order to benefit the good development of units activities.

  • Compliance requirement of selective waste storage.

  • Taking all necessary measures to avoid accidental pollution and to conserve natural resources (water, energy).


Required Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in commodity merchandising

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Economy/Finance/Commercial preferred

  • Fluent in English and the local language

  • Broad understanding of commercial role

  • Sound risk management knowledge and P&L knowledge

  • Project management

  • Very strong negotiations skills
