Position Purpose & Summary

Responsible for and lead all FSQR activities across Diamond V and Embria manufacturing and quality departments to include assisting with strategic and tactical planning in alignment with CFSRA (Cargill Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs) and Diamond V and CAN business unit plans. Directs development and management of all Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) systems in the business including: continuous improvement of FSQR processes and systems, implementing FSQR policies , ensuring connectivity and collaboration between business functions, assisting with talent management, directing management of the overall external FSQR environment including customer, supplier and regulatory interfaces for the business. Key member of the Diamond V Manufacturing Management leadership team.

Principal Accountabilities

25% Develop, implement and assess processes/systems – directs implementation of all FSQR, specification and management of change systems across Diamond V and Embria Quality and Manufacturing areas, drives continuous improvement, provides input to Diamond V leadership related to base/non-base capital needs to maintain food safety leadership position.

15% Ensure compliance of regulations/policies – assumes ultimate accountability for all FSQR compliance, direction and activities across Diamond V and Embria Quality and Manufacturing, analyzes and interprets CAN FSQR policies, regulations, customer and supplier standards, directs implementation of FSQR policies, customer and supplier standards within Diamond V and Embria Quality and Manufacturing areas.

15% Perform prevention activities and issue resolution – ensure connectivity and collaboration between FSQR and other functions across Diamond V and Embria facilities, directs work with suppliers/external manufacturers, works with engineering on new process design, new product scale up and facility expansion projects, proactively anticipates risk and takes preventative action, accountable for completion of facility audits (both internal and third party) and proactively address risk areas.

15% Shape food safety, quality and regulatory culture/reputation – responsible as central FSQR interface with customer and suppliers for Diamond V and Embria quality and manufacturing, builds internal and external partnerships, ensure customer complaint issues addressed, lead implementation of platform strategy to ensure a highly engaged FSQR workforce.

30% People/resource/budget management – lead talent management of employees in FSQR department for Diamond V and Embria; coordinates talent management efforts with the Quality Managers at each location, build and develop effective, engaged FSQR workforce across the Diamond V and Embria facilities, develop strategic and tactical FSQR plans, key member of the Diamond V Manufacturing Management team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree – Science Related Field, preferably Food Science, Biology/Microbiology or Chemistry.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality or Food Safety in a food or feed manufacturing business.

  • Intermediate Auditing/Compliance: Applies auditing/quality compliance skills to identify & manage risks/compliance.

  • Intermediate Knowledge of Food Laws and Regulations: Stays up-to-date and ensures compliance with food laws and regulations.

  • Intermediate HACCP Knowledge/Implementation - Applies HACCP to identify and control food safety hazards

  • Intermediate Customer Specifications Management: Interfaces effectively with customers; ensures products meet customer specifications; answers questions and solves customer problems.

  • Intermediate Supplier Quality Assurance - Identifies and addresses supplier quality issues.

  • Intermediate Managing and Improving Processes - Delivers processes that are aligned, effective, and optimize Cargill resources.

  • Intermediate Plant/Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations.

  • Intermediate Project Management - Applies a structured, disciplined approach to planning, administering and completing projects successfully.

  • Intermediate Knowledge Cargill Policies & Standards - Applies CFSRA policy and standards to enhance food safety and quality.

  • Basic Risk Assessment - Conducts and communicates the results of a scientific evaluation of the known or potential adverse health effects resulting from human or animal exposure to food borne hazards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum - bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Chemistry or related fields. Deep technical knowledge in the areas of food safety, quality assurance and regulatory affairs.

  • Demonstrated leadership and process control management skills and an ability to develop team members

  • Understanding of statistical process control programs Is preferred

  • Operations experience preferred.
