Description

Cargill’s Agricultural Supply Chain – North America (CASC NA) connects agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers through a seamless supply chain. We help our customers compete in the global market and efficiently deliver products from origins to destinations through our marketing, sourcing, originating, storing, trading, consulting and processing of grain, oilseeds and crop inputs products and solutions. CASC NA business reaches across Canada, United States & Mexico with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers.

Reporting to the elevator supervisor, you will be responsible for the accurate grading of canola on samples from trucks and railcars, as well as operating and maintaining equipment associated with the elevator process. You will typically interact on a regular basis with seed customers, crush operators, supervisors, and other personnel.

Principal Accountabilities

Grading

  • Operate grain probe to safely obtain a representative sample without damaging the vessel

  • Determine grade and dockage of samples and process samples utilizing lab equipment to obtain and record values

  • Ensure accurate information of scale weights and transactions are recorded daily

Equipment Operation

  • Operate all equipment associated with the elevator process including drags, conveyors, scales, rail unload, and truck dump

  • Unload seed from rail cars: operate railcar puller to move rail cars, open and close rail car gates

Miscellaneous

  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long range needs for maintenance and repair work, perform minor maintenance, and enter work orders utilizing maintenance computer program

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation and attend various mandatory safety and department meetings

  • Assist other crush and plant personnel as needed, and perform any other duty as requested by the leadership team

This is a full time position based in our Clavet, SK location. Our Head Office is based in Winnipeg, therefore you can expect to receive calls with a 204 area code if you are being considered for the role. We will not offer relocation assistance for this position.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling and work in confined spaces

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold

  • Ability to work in elevated areas

  • Must be able to operate machinery

  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment

  • Must be able to read/write English

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work overtime

  • Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred:

  • Able to perform physical job duties including pounding with hammer

  • Forklift certified

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and follow-up
