The trial leader is accountable to contribute to the delivery of innovation research and projects through supporting researchers with trial execution, protocols and reports. Measures for success will include R&D excellence criteria (timeline respect in trial deliverables; protocols, coordination, line of site to innovation unit, and reports. This position will include a weekend rotation.

Principal Accountabilities

Protocol Execution: 50%

  • Support researcher with design, organizing and executing the experimental protocol linked to a project.

  • Support the researcher in literature research

  • Coordinate execution of trial with species unit, lab, feed processing, protocol coordinator and STATs team

  • Formulation of diets

  • Entering ingredients into Feed Mill Manager (FMM)

  • Lead pretrial meetings

Data Review: 25%

  • Write amendments to protocol as needed.

  • Review of data

  • Assist in trouble shooting trial deviations and recommendations for improvement

  • Initiation of trial report

Data Collection: 20%

  • Assist in unit as needed

Safety: 5%

  • Safety: Assure all protocols adhere to CAN safety program and all policies and procedures are followed.



  • Degree in animal science and/or nutrition and/or related science

  • Experience in running research trials

  • Proficient in computer work excel,, outlook, word and power point

  • Compelling and authentic communications skills (written and oral)

  • High level of trust and communication with supporting teams

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, adapt

  • Leadership skills (lead projects)

  • Demonstrate willingness to learn from others

  • Demonstrate disciplined timeline respect and structured approach to execute trials

  • Agile and team player


  • Formulation training or experience

  • Multi species experience in research trials
