The Plant Scheduler role is responsible for converting supply plans into plant processing schedules using appropriate planning tools. Functioning under limited oversight, the Plant Scheduler utilizes substantial and broad knowledge of the location’s processes, product specifications, processing capabilities and manufacturing capacities to ultimately provide processing schedules that maximize raw material and plant resources, minimize operating cost, and meet replenishment requirements. Plant scheduling activities include scheduling, interaction with supporting functions, systems/data management & key metrics reporting.
30% Plant Scheduling Operations: Applies an understanding of supply chain planning and scheduling processes to identify areas of improvement. Evaluates plant capacity utilization and resource availability on a daily basis, and develops plans in case of gaps in order to minimize plant inefficiencies, utilize available resources, and meet order fill rate goals.
50% Plant Scheduling & Execution: Monitors and manages resources (plant capacity, raw material, labor) availability and production requirements in order to generate plant schedules that optimize plant efficiency, optimize raw material utilization, and meet replenishment order requirements. With minimal oversight monitors shelf life of raw materials and WIP inventories. Monitors plan implementation to ensure plant schedule adherence and attainment.
10% Client Interaction/Business Partnership: Advises and provides recommendations to internal stakeholders (supply planners, plant ops, CTL, procurement) on the impacts of the location’s processing schedules. Collaborates with peers at other locations within BOSC. Works with the location’s team of plant operations managers and supervisors to ensure customer expectations are met from production to shipment.
10% Systems/Data Management, Reporting & Analysis: Maintains and utilizes scheduling system to help analyze plans to monitor impact on inventory levels and working capital. Reports results to the value added products supply chain and the Plant’s operations teams for tracking of KPI’s that impact schedule adherence, schedule attainment, capacity utilization, and raw material utilization. Tracks and analyzes plant scheduling KPI’s across multiple production lines for the location. Implements and recommends actions to improve plant performance.
Minimum 2 years planning, scheduling, or operations experience
High proficiency using PC based applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Access)
Demonstrated strong analytical skills, has the ability to investigate problems, find solutions and determine best approach to resolve issues
Demonstrated track record in taking initiative, working independently or within a team, effectively navigating ambiguity, and handling multiple priorities simultaneously
Proven ability to influence and engage teams without having direct authority
Effective communication skills both in written, verbal and in presentation
Demonstrated curiosity and determination, desire to follow a problem to a root cause.
Bachelor degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, logistics, math, or business
Experience with integrated planning software tools (e.g. Logility or JDA) and processes
APICS or CPIM certification or equivalent
