Position Purpose & Summary

The plant systems & controls (PS&C) domain in Cargill exist of the operational technology (OT)) which is used for direct monitoring and control of physical devices, processes and events in a manufacturing location. It includes the hardware, software, instrumentation and infrastructure required to make the technology work securely and reliably. Plant Systems refers to these IT components of PS&C.

Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) are the end to end business processes used in a manufacturing plant. MOM processes are workflows that are comprised of manufacturing steps and activities. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are technology applications that can be used to automate MOM processes.

The mission of the PS-MOM team in SSE: Ensure proper care is taken of IT components of Plant Systems & controls technology and deliver on value capture initiatives in the MOM domain, as such enabling SSE facilities to run safely, reliable and cost effective

This includes:

  • Business partnering and service provider management

  • Pro-active support of Continuous improvement , Manufacturing excellence

  • Drive for optimisation and standardization of business processes in manufacturing space

  • Usage of common solutions based on best practices

Each location in SSE has a Location PS-MOM Engineer delivering this capability. A central PS-MOM team will provide Best Practices, guidance, capability & expertise to support and align improvement programs.

Principal Accountabilities

  • 70% Value capture

  • Supports local manufacturing excellence initiatives.

  • Supports Electrical Automation Instrumentation (EAI) and MES master plans for the location.

  • Coordinate receiving of IT services as part of the location initiatives.

  • Contribute in depth knowledge in project engineering

  • Participate in location Portfolio/projets Review Team (PRT), ensure that projects are executed in line with SSE best practices.

  • Identify improvement opportunities leveraging the capabilities of PS technology and MOM related business processes.

  • Identifying opportunities and creating value: assessing gaps, identifying solutions and measurements

  • Align with central PS-MOM team, drive standardization on used PS technology and MOM solutions

  • 30% Business partnering and service provider management

  • Partners with MIT, using manufacturing process and MIT service knowledge. Define business requirements for MIT services. Quality acceptance on behalve of the SSE location related to MIT services. Look at the business perspective of the delivered MIT services.

  • Partners with other service providers.

  • Liaison with users on location to understand requirements, service issues and opportunities. Address these issues by involving the correct service provider.


  • Bachelor degree in Electrical-, Process control-, engineering or equal

  • 10 years practical experience in automation, process control and MES domain as engineer, in a manufacturing environment, preferably but not exclusively in the food industry

  • Practical Experience with plant systems & controls technology, including IT technology.

  • Profound previous experience with business processes in MOM domain - Subject matterexpert

  • Demonstrated proficiency in looking to the business perspective of technology and solutions

  • Demonstrated proficiency in business process improvement of manufacturing processes

  • Act and provide MOM related work at Senior level (e.g. MOM requirement definition, functional design)

  • Strong conceptual skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Capable of building working relationships

  • High problem solving capacity

  • Excellent communication skills in French and English.

  • Good understanding of IT technology.

  • Understand business strategy, goals and directions and act on them.
