The Application Development Analyst will work closely with business partners and other Global IT teams to deliver standard application and integration solutions. Candidates for this position are expected to be skilled professionals with general application development knowledge. This position is responsible for the successful development, design, and documentation for concurrent projects with a moderate range of complexity. This position requires a strong analyst who can partner effectively with others, drive results, identify and resolve problems, and make challenging decisions. This position is expected to follow the Cargill Project Delivery Process, Enterprise Architecture target architectures and Global IT’s Solution Development (Build) process and standards.
60% Configuration and Development:
Configure and/or develop standard applications according to development standards.
Partner with infrastructure teams to enable configuration and development.
Setup and/or Utilize development environment that ensures limited or no production impact
Transition components to other environments.
Identify and store development logic and artifacts in a source repository.
Assess and mitigate risks associated with project development, deployment, and support.
20% Technical Analysis & Design:
Consult with BU, Platform and Function partners on standard application and integration design.
Analyze business requirements and create detailed technical specifications from which applications/programs will be written.
Collaborate with External Business Partners and/or software platform vendors on technical design and architecture.
Clearly articulates design options.
Design solutions that meet security, server capacity, performance, usability and data integrity requirements.
10% Quality Assurance and Testing:
Prepare component test plans.
Perform software component testing and provide support of end-to-end/user testing phases.
Ensure technical design and developed solution meet team’s and enterprise level standards.
Work closely with software deployment and Operations team to ensure successful transition and implmenentation.
Implement solutions for defects.
10% Other Project Delivery Responsibilities (may include some or all of the following):
Set up and utilize a development environment (IDE).
Manage workload and priorities to deliver agreed upon project milestones.
Prepare and execute training of users and operations teams.
Work across architecture domains to identify and resolve issues and manage inter-dependencies between integration points.
Provide level 3 production support (incident and change).
Provide post-implementation support to Operations team through transition period.
Lead process improvement initiatives within team.
Technical Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience creating Technical Design documents.
Experience in at least two toolw from the list of 4 given below -
TIBCO: Experience with TIBCO Business Works, Active Database Adapters, EMS, or File Adapters
Boomi: Experience with Boomi integration – iPaas. Have used existing or built new custom connectors. Experiences with custom workflows, pipelines, orchestration and business rules engine.
Business Objects Data Services (BODS) Data Integrator: Experience with oracle and SQLServer connectors. Experience creating workflow and complex mapping.
WebMethods: Experience with AS2, SFTP connectors. Creation of work flow services and use of pipelines.
Hands-on experiences with multiple Operating Systems (Unix, Windows, iSeries)
Programming experience in Java or .NET
Experience with data encryption (e.g. PGP) and digital certificates
Experience with CrossVista deployment tool (WebMethods)
Project demands on occasion may require work during non-standard business hours. An example would be working with a BU partner or off-shore development team member in a different timezone.
Up to 10% travel
University degree in Business, IT or equivalent experience
3 or more years successfully working as application designer and developer or related experience on medium to large scale projects.
Proven record of interacting with multiple business units and functional teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate technical and business information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience working with partners to evaluate business needs and define requirements and architecture
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new, moderately complex technologies
Strong problem solving/decision-making skills
Experience with software version control tools
Experience working in multiple Operating System enviroments (Windows, Unix, iSeries)
Experience working with third-party vendors
Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Knowledge of and experience with Change Management
Familiarity with Cargill’s Project Delivery Process (PDP) Methodology
Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall development methologies
Working knowledge of database development and architecture incluiding DML and DDL
