Cargill operates five Canadian facilities located in Ontario, Alberta and Quebec. In Alberta, the High River plant is a fully integrated beef processing facility where over 2,300 employees process 4500 head of cattle per day, and the Calgary Case Ready facility has over 350 employees serving national retailers and food service customers. In Ontario, the fully integrated Guelph beef facility employs over 820 employees and processes 1,800 head of cattle per day, while the Guelph Case Ready facility has over 600 employees. In Quebec, the Chambly Case Ready facility has over 500 employees serving national retailers and food service customers.
The General Labourer position is responsible for completing the Bill of Lading and invoice for each shipment as well as any government documentation that may be required.
35% Prepare and validate Bills of Lading and invoices for all product types. (meat, hides, by-products, etc.)
35% Prepare and validate export documents for boxed beef, hides, fetal blood, rail cars and by-products bound for the USA, Mexico and other international countries.
20% Perform other duties as assigned
10% Work with government agencies
Possess leadership skills while continuing to work as a team player with the other clerks.
Possess problem solving, decision making, listening and negotiating skills.
Knowledge of Export procedures and requirements for all USA, Mexico and International Countries.
Knowledge of customer requirements.
A good understanding of billing procedures and freezer accounting.
A good working knowledge of the production processes, including shipping and inventory control.
Strong, accurate typing skills
Must be able to do detailed work accurately
Must be able to meet deadlines
Must be able to work comfortably under pressure
Good communication skills - verbal and written are essential
Must be able to solve problems independently
Must have the ability to multi task
Ability to move forward with decisions even if the person does not personally agree.
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Experience with AS400
Experience with Microsoft programs
Flexibility with hours is required on VERY short notice.
Self-motivated, conscientious, and prepared to function as a team member
Willingness to learn other duties
Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
