Position Purpose

The Maintenance Supervisors report to the department Maintenance Superintendent and are accountable for ensuring the safe and efficient operations of all machinery, equipment, and employees to coordinate corrective, prevent, and emergency repairs to all associated areas for which they are accountable.

Principal Accountabilities

30% Minimize downtime and achieve or surpass downtime goals in the fabrication area, working directly with production supervisors, and managers to solve maintenance and production problems and eliminate root causes through modification and/or engineering.

25% Responsible for maintenance expenses with in the accountable department, with emphasis on cost reduction through preventive maintenance program and work with production management to reduce damage.

20% Ensures that all mechanics, electricians and employees work safely and that equipment in the accountable areas function in a safe manner to minimize injury and/or property loss.

15% Monitoring and achieving utility goals and usage goals of the accountable department to reduce operating costs and to be cost effective throughout the plant.

10% Ensure required parts and tools are on hand for mechanics to safely perform the job tasks assigned to them.


Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of critical task procedures

  • Equipment operation and maintenance experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of budget numbers and control

  • Capable of using SAP asset management computer program

  • Operational maintenance responsibilities

  • Millwright knowledge and skill set

  • A Millwright Ticket or Interprovincial Seal Equivalent is a definite asset

  • Food Industry Experience a definite asset

  • High School diploma

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor diploma in related field

  • Previous supervisor experience

  • Trade certifications

  • Mechanical training experience
