The Digital Foundations Product Manager will provide delivery and scope management and agile scrum leadership to products across the portfolio of Cargill Digital Labs’ Digital Foundations domain.This scope may include facilitating delivery of features or releases for the Cargill Data Platform / Big Data environment, the Cargill API Platform, the Digital Supply Chain Platform and the Cloud Platform.This role requires a team-first leader who can prioritize well and bring focus and execution excellence across a team.
This position will ensure that all products features are prioritized, planned, tracked and delivered successfully and that internal and external resources are held accountable to agreed commitments.Doing so will require comprehensive skills in product management, leadership, product planning, delivery execution, product control, and business. This role is a critical contributor to driving results and proactively identifying and resolving problems and impediments. This role will work directly with the product owners and teams to manage the product backlogs (user stories, milestones/epics, & dependencies).This role will also be a coach for product teams on the usage of Agile methodologies and tools by taking on the scrum master role.
Key activities and responsibilities include:
Organize and enable planning meetings, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, iteration and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
Maintain relevant metrics that guide the development team to become more efficient in their processes and work. Communicate team velocity and iteration/release progress.
Maintain commitment towards achieving increment/iteration objectives and team needs.
Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and transparency/visibility.
Identify and remove barriers to work, prevent distractions.
Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution. Empower the team to self-organize.
Provide coaching to staff with management guidance.
Provide feedback on individual and team performance with a focus on agile competencies.
Drive continuous improvement within the teams
Support budgeting and associated financial analysis for the various products in the portfolio.
40% Product Management
Responsible for leading and coaching Agile Delivery Capabilities and facilitating agile ceremonies across products
Responsible for tracking design/build deliverable commitments and buy-in across product components and teams
Drives a culture of discipline and compliance to team and industry standards and best practices
Maintain awareness of application risks and opportunities for expansion and improvement.
Actively works with Product Owners to establish vision and plans for product
Provides resource forecasting in line with backlog prioritization and estimates
Tracks Product budgets and captures variance explanations and aligns with Product Owner on necessary adjustments to spend
Leads portfolio review meetings and working sessions with Product Owners/Sponsors
30% Product Change and Release Management
Facilitates and manages near and long term delivery roadmap - release epics/sprints or point releases & achieve buy-in for lifecycle roadmaps – in support of Product Owners
Responsible for the cumulative view of demand across the product portfolio
Supports the driving of decisions on releases and sorting through conflicts
Supports the scheduling, coordinating and communicating deployment of product releases, inclusive of vendor product releases and internal customizations
Ensures release and change management processes are adhered to and appropriate documentation exists.
20% Product Operations Management
Ensures active operational issues are assigned and being worked in line with necessary priorities
Ensures appropriate communications are happening for issues in line with associated impact
Facilitates complex problem solving (operations) for live products - inclusive of RCA and action plans
Facilitates reconciliation of Change/Release and Operational priorities
Develops workload forecasts and staffing estimates for Operations Management
10% Stakeholder Management, Metrics, and Reporting
Ensure appropriate metrics (Risk, Issues, Product Status, People Utilization, etc.) are maintained, analyzed and acted on in order to ensure effectiveness.
Participate in product demos and showcase activities
Support the delivery and communication of product and solution metrics including delivery roadmap, portfolio customer satisfaction, adoption/recovery, value realization.
Maintain partnering/relationship with internal and 3rd party software providers to influence product enhancements.
Bachelor’s Degree in IT or Business Related field or equivalent work experience
7 years of IT and/or business / industry work experience
5 years leading the delivery of digital or software projects/products and 2 years in a Scrum Master or similar role
1 years experience creating or managing Product roadmaps or strategies
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in technical or business discipline
Certified Scrum Master
Applied experience with Hadoop and other big data technologies
Applied experience with API development or engineering
Applied experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc)
Experience with development using GitHub, TSVS or TFS
Experience working with and influencing 3rd party providers
Proven ability to work effectively in a distributed muti-geographic team
Ability to travel up to 10%.
