Position Purpose

This role will be part of the Function Finance team providing support for Global IT with primary responsibility for developing and maintaining data and systems used to calculate and report Global IT budget, forecasts, and actual results; and to develop reporting and analytics for IT Projects. Global IT is a large and complex organization spread over 72 legal entities in 45 countries across the globe. The Senior Financial Analyst role is a challenging opportunity to learn the complexities of Cargill Global IT financial data structure utilizing strong data, problem solving and communication skills.

This person will serve a critical business partnering role and be a key point of contact for Global IT. In addition, the role works closely with other Accounting & Finance (A&F) and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) resources.

Principal Accountabilities

Financial Reporting (35%):

Responsible for the global reporting and analysis of IT projects, including cost and recovery, yield, exchange rate impact, and rate calculation and analysis. Understand the key data sources for IT Project reporting and the related processes. Develop reports designed to give finance and function representatives better insight into the financial data (i.e. foreign exchange impact on spending).

Reports will be built in Apptio whenever possible but may incorporate other reporting tools such as Power BI. A key responsibility for this role will be to continue to enhance and improve project reporting to further enable analysis and decision-making.

Teach basic analytics to appropriate IT personnel to promote financial engagement and provide training and training materials to promote usage of the reporting. Work with FP&A to develop metrics and financial reporting standards to determine the value of IT projects, both forward and backward-looking.

Budget and Forecasting (35%):

Lead in budget and forecast process development – as a key member of a finance team working to develop a sustainable and repeatable budget and forecasting model for IT project cost, this role is responsible for helping to transition a traditionally informal process into a defined, repeatable process and to assist in the configuration and ongoing development of the financial tool, Apptio, including operational ownership of the Apptio IT Planning module.

Financial System Configuration and Maintenance (15%):

Develop proficiency in the Apptio IT Planning (ITP) application to become the primary resource for all system configuration, report building, and maintenance. Develop understanding and expertise in how ITP interfaces with other IT Finance and Corporate Finance applications and reports.

Other Projects (15%):

As needed and requested by IT Finance or Corporate Finance leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated business partnering experience

  • Experience and understanding of a wide variety of analytical processes, tools, and approaches

  • Strong understanding of data flows, database structure, and financial report writing

  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Strong decision making, critical thinking and analytics skills, coupled with high business acumen and the ability to translate principles of finance theory into practical application.

  • Results orientation, “can do” attitude, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, negotiation and relationship building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with and interest in analytical tools (e.g. Power BI, Apptio, Tableau)

  • Cost accounting or project costing experience

  • Combination of finance/accounting and IT experience

  • Knowledge of the IT functional areas, their operations, and the related data and tools.
