Position Overview:

The Technical Services Solution Architect implements and influences the strategic direction for Technical Services Applications architecture for systems globally. They manage a portfolio of architecture solutions with a long term view and are considered an expert in this area. The position provides strategic expertise and is responsible to provide Technical Services architectural leadership for advanced and complex application projects based on deep and extensive technical knowledge. The position is an expert on corporate EA reference architectures and standards and provides guidance to other architects within the company.

This position requires a highly skilled technical architect who can partner effectively with all levels of the organization, provide strategic thought leadership, lead and mentor others, drive results, provide application architecture expertise across multiple technologies, and make challenging decisions. The position is responsible for managing a portfolio of architecture solutions related to one or more process areas that utilize the Technical Services applications portfolio.

Principal Accountabilities:

65% - Solution Architecture Consulting:

  • Provides integration technology and solution architecture guidance for application implementations

  • Create and develop technical architectures for advanced and complex Technical Services domain projects

  • Provide guidance and architectural oversight during solution fit, requirements, and design to ensure that the end to end solution remains aligned to the Technical Services domain strategy and target architecture

  • Provide architecture and design guidance to Software Architects and Application Architects globally

  • Utilizing extensive integration and application expertise, guide and influence application integration capabilities of the systems provided by major vendors and application owners

  • Work across technology areas to identify and resolve complex and high-impact issues related to the inter-dependencies between systems on major projects

30% - Solution Governance & Technical SME:

  • Maintain the enterprise architecture patterns and decision tree assets in the Technical Services application domain

  • Monitors compliance of architecture solutions ensuring they align to Domain and EA guidelines

  • Participate in architecture and solution design reviews as part of the project delivery process or EA processes to ensure solution aligns with strategy

  • Strongly advocate and pro-actively promote awareness of the Technical Services domain architecture portfolio to the Center-Lead Delivery Team and Regional IT teams

  • Maintain extensive knowledge of industry trends in the Technical Services domain space

  • Work closely with EA to guide and influence standards, reference architectures, and capabilities based on industry, economic principles, and Cargill global delivery experiences

5% - Other Responsibilities (may include some or all of the following):

  • Prepare and execute architectural and capability training for architects and technical leads

  • Mentor others on architectural patterns, solution design, and EA standards

  • Contribute to or prepare project estimations based on solution architecture

  • Assist in the selection of employees and 3rd party resources and provide input on future workforce needs

  • Lead process and service improvement initiatives within team

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, IT or 7 years equivalent experience

  • Experience in Enterprise Integration, SOA Governance and Process Automation, E-Commerce solutions including WebMethods, Tibco, API Gateway, or Boomi

  • 5 years in implementing integration solutions for B2B (Tibco and Webmethods preferred)

  • 7 years of IT and business/industry work experience designing solutions using Platform as a Service offerings and/or Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) solutions

  • 5 years of direct Integration, Application development and Solution Architecture experience

  • 3 years implementing ERP solutions that required significant external system integration, with tools such as Peoplesoft or SAP

  • Experience in the latest enterprise operating systems including Linux, Unix or Windows including the ability to administer, configure, tune and troubleshoot complex environments

  • Experience developing enterprise and web applications in the latest development tools and programming languages including Java, C/C , .NET or other object oriented programming languages

  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20%

Preferred:

  • Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies

  • Experience leading technology assessments

  • Experience with business case development

  • Experience with multiple integration technologies

  • Experience with Managed File Transfer (MFT)

  • Business fluency in English
