Position Purpose

The Broiler Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and success of the Antibiotic Reduction Program. This will be achieved through technical support and collaboration with farmer, nutrition, and veterinary professionals to achieve the highest possible rate of usable product as required by the program and our customer.

Principal Accountabilities

80% Technical Service

- Direct/counsel broiler growers with chick management, broiler nutrition, health, bio security, housing environment, weight, and uniformity and performance life of flock as necessary and provide technical recommendations as needed to meet processing customer requirements.

- Resolve chick quality and flock health concerns, including taking samples and arranging for veterinary inspection of the birds and/or facilities

- Maintains good working relationships with growers, hatchery sales team and industry representatives.

- Maintains regular contact and works with the manager, processing plant and hatchery team to report success factors and/or resolve potential problems

- Manages the field sample lab testing and results tracking program to determne health issue trends and initiate action plans to address field health challenges

- Informs and train customers on company programs and policies regarding broiler management and animal welfare

- Work with new costomer accounts to initiate our programs and ensure a successful transition into our business

- Monitor the deployment of company programs on-farm to ensure effectivemness and compliance

- Updates producers on relevant industry information

- Works with customers to ensure that weight and bird quality requirement at the processing plant are met

- Ensures that HACCP program requirements are maintained

- Represents the company at industry shows, seminars and meetings

20% Administration

- Prepare own work schedule

- Communicates with hatchery quality team on chick quality related concerns

- Reviews processing plant schedule and related information as needed

- Produce detailed progress reports and summaries related to the broiler program

- Maintains service equipment

- Schedules maintenance of vehicle

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years related experience in broiler production and antibiotic reduction programs

  • Technical knowledge of poultry processing requirements and operations

  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills

  • Experience in customer relations

  • Self-starter and must be able to work independently

  • Schedule, prioritize and maintain own work schedule

  • Valid driver’s license with clean record and ability to drive up to 6 hours per day

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
