This position is located in Lititz, Pennsylvania . No relocation assistance provided.

The Mechanic 2 will install, repair and maintain all heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and mechanical equipment to required standards in the production areas, office areas, facility grounds, lab, warehouse and utility areas. The Mechanic 2 will operate, repair and maintain the boiler and air compressor equipment. The Mechanic 2 will be responsive to line calls, provide support for mechanical preventative and failure based maintenance as required by the plant’s needs.

This is a first shift position from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm and its hourly rate is $28.

Principal accountabilities:

  • 60% Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures including heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. Services and repairs mechanical equipment. Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned. Disconnect and reconnect electrical motors as needed. Operate and maintain boiler and air compressor systems.

  • 20% Assemble, install, align, test, and lubricate, electro-mechanical, or mechanical equipment using test equipment, hand tools and power tools. Inspect mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and compliance with appropriate codes.

  • 10% Recommends changes, modifications or upgrades to equipment to improve machine reliability and performance. Reads mechanical drawings and documents. Documents completed work, modifications to equipment, findings and parts information as required.

  • 10% Perform other duties assigned.

Other required skills:

  • Ability to respond to calls for emergency work during off duty hours.

  • Ability to bend and crawl in limited space.

  • Ability to technically advise and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience with HVAC equipment including chillers, cooling towers, and boilers.

  • Experience and ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals.

  • 2 year Technical degree in industrial mechanical discipline and 2 years of work experience in a mechanical role, OR 4 years of work experience in an industrial mechanical role.

  • 2 years maintenance mechanical experience with exposure to electrical systems.



  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Must be able to read/write English.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 55 pounds.

  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas.

  • Must be able to operate machinery.

  • Ability to work overtime.

  • Must be able to perform maintenance trades including mechanical maintenance.


  • Basic Computer skills.

  • Forklift certified.

  • Able to operate heavy equipment.

  • Able to work holidays, nights or weekends.

  • Associates Degree in a technical discipline or Apprenticeship program completion.

  • Food plant manufacturing experience.

  • Understanding of requirements to maintain food safety and employee safety.

  • Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

  • Experience with NFPA-70E requirements.

  • Experience with mechanical equipment including pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyor systems, packaging systems, air compressors, pumps and process piping.

  • EPA Section 608 Universal certification.

  • Working knowledge of SAP, MS Office and Windows.

  • Able to perform maintenance trades including electrical, welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication, rigging systems, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, air compressors, conveyor systems, packaging systems, hydraulic and pneumatic.
