Position Purpose

Responsible for the planning, development and maintenance of all FSQR systems in a location with Medium FSQR Complexity and Risk, including: developing, implementing, and training location employees on FSQR policies, continuous improvement of FSQR processes and systems, shaping the location’s food safety culture and leading talent management practices. Key member of the location leadership team.

Principal Accountabilities

20% People/resource/budget management: Lead talent management of employees in FSQR, accountable for selection, training, development performance management and engagement of direct/indirect reports, actively participates in development of FSQR initiatives, etc. Maintain and monitor the departmental safety program.

20% Plan, coordinate and e nsure compliance of regulations/policies: ultimate accountability for all FSQR compliance the facility, analyze, review, interpret FSQR policies, regulations, implements predefined customer and supplier standards, monitor regulatory activities, monitor sanitation activities, ensures plant compliance, act as liaison with regulatory authorities at local level.

20% Shape food safety, quality and regulatory culture/reputation: interface with manager within CPG and represent FSQR as part of location management team, act as liaison between customer and operations to ensure standard/expectations are met, build and develop effective engaged FSQR workforce, lead implementation of BU FSQR strategy/tactical plans.

20% Develop, implement and assess FSMS process/systems: plans and directs all FSQR programs and management of change, implements product specification systems, drives continuous improvement, provides input to location leaders related to the FSMS.Maintain, assess and improve the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) which includes but is not limited to:updating/reassessing the FSMS (HACCP, PRPs, etc.).

20% Perform prevention activities and issue resolution: act as customer interface, manage FSQR audits, respond to customer questions/complaints, proactively identify risks, take action to prevent FSQR issues across location.Lead the food safety team as the food safety team leader which includes but it sno limited to:manage the food safety team and organize its work (holds team accountable for completion of action items); ensure that relevant training and education of the food safety team; reports to top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the FSMS.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Capable to provide leadership/motivation to engage employees in the business.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in food manufacturing.

  • HACCP Knowledge/Implementation - Applies HACCP to identify & control food safety hazards.

  • Knowledge of Food Laws & Regulations - Stays up-to-date and ensures compliance with food laws and regulations.

  • Managing & Improving FSQR - Delivers intermediate processes that are aligned, effective & optimize Cargill resources.

  • Strong risk management skills

  • Ability to rethink and improve business for continued growth

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and ensure execution of Food Safety, Quality and business initiatives

  • Lean manufacturing, or knowledge of SPC, and strong troubleshooting and process improvement skills

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical/Associate Degree - Minimum 3 years’ experience in Technical Services, i.e., Quality, Food Safety, Auditing, etc.; or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Biological Sciences or related field preferred. - Minimum 3 years’ experience in Technical Services, i.e., Quality, Food Safety, Auditing, etc.

  • Knowledge of BRC and FSSC22000, GFSI certification.

  • Knowledge of Cargill Policies & Standards - Applies CFSRA policy & standards to enhance food safety & quality.

  • Risk Assessment - Conducts and communicates the results of a scientific evaluation of the known or potential adverse health effects resulting from human or animal exposure to food borne hazards.

  • Knowledge of Quality Standards & Quality Tools - Applies knowledge of quality standards and tools to enhance food safety and quality.

  • Plant Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations.

  • Supplier Quality Assurance - Identifies and addresses supplier quality issues.

  • Working knowledge of Quality Systems Management.

Must be able to relocate. This is a 18-24 month developmental assignment. At the end of the 18-24 months, this individual may be required to relocate to another facility in Cargill.
