Job Description

The maintenance electrician will install, repair, and maintain all electrical wiring, equipment, instrumentation, fixtures and systems to required standards in the production, building and grounds, office, lab, warehouse, utility areas.

The maintenance electrician will be responsive to line calls, provide support for mechanical and electrical preventative and failure-based maintenance as required by the plant’s needs.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical failures.Services and repairs low voltage apparatus and control equipment such as switches, relays, variable frequency drives, computerized process control systems and field control devices.Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.

  • Assemble, install, calibrate, test, and maintain electrical, electro-mechanical & electronic equipment using test equipment, hand tools and power tools.Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and compliance with appropriate codes.Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as multimeters, and meggers to ensure safe operation.

  • Recommends changes, modifications or upgrades to equipment to improve machine reliability and performance. Reads electrical circuit drawings and documents.Documents completed work, modifications to equipment, findings and parts information as required.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, including participation in continuous improvement activites related to EHS, FSQR, reliability and production excellence.

  • Licensed Industrial Journeyman Electrician is a must to have.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously; attention to detail; strong organization skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Experience and ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals.

  • Associates Degree in technical disciplines.

  • Four years electrical systems experience.

  • Experience with PLC and/or other control systems.

  • Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement, including lean six sigma.

  • Experience in the food and beverage industry.

  • Two years maintenance experience with exposure to electrical systems.

  • Licensed Industrial Journeyman Electrician.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old in a production facility.

  • Able to read/write English.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of50 pounds.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas.

  • Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts.

  • Must be able to perform maintenance electrical trades.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.

  • Able to operate machinery.

  • Able to operate heavy equipment.

  • Forklift certified.

  • Able to work overtime.

  • At least (2 years) of experience in production related work as a preferred.

  • Able to perform maintenance trades including pumps and piping systems and mechanical maintenance.

  • Previous experience with MRO (Maintenance Repair Ops) and/or MRP (Material Requirement Planning).
