Position Purpose

This position is responsible for safely leading, assisting, and the direct supervision of daily operations of the molding & packaging department in Milwaukee, WI. This includes performing actual tasks of the daily operations when required. The focus of this position is safety, food safety, operational excellence, customer solutions, maintenance reliability, and personnel development. This is a shift position that requires the individual to work a 12hr, 4 days on / 4 days off schedule on either dayshift or nightshift.

Principal Accountabilities

40% PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Supervises and provides daily coaching to shift leads and production workers, including coaching around Cargill’s guiding principles.

  • Assists in planning for future production workforce needs and participates in selection of employees.

  • Responsible for training and on boarding new/transferred employees as well as workforce engagement, recognition, development and coaching.

  • Promotes a culture of accountability and actively coaches employees. Supports disciplinary process when needed.

  • Interacts with payroll system to properly track employee’s daily attendance and schedules

  • Assigns employee overtime on a shift basis. Responsible for posting unplanned overtime when needed.

  • Executes shift kick-off meetings with department employees.

20% OPERATIONAL / RELIABILITY EXCELLENCE / CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Directly supervises daily operations of department to achieve production throughput requirements including work flow, job

assignments, scheduling, shift coverage, etc.

  • Champions a culture that promotes operational excellence. Recommends process improvements and has front line involvement with Stable Ops process.

  • Champions a culture that promotes reliability excellence. Coordinates daily maintenance activities and safe work permits within the department. Responsible for inputting work orders. Responsible for executing post maintenance activities.

  • Work with operators to improve plant yield by miminizing rework & scrap in the department.

  • Actively track production results & downtime for the department

  • Active leader and participant in root cause analysis

  • Perform inquiries and transactions within SAP

20% SAFETY/ RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Executes day-to-day operations of assigned area, ensuring direct reports are following policies and procedures related to employee safety and food/feed Safety.

  • Partners/collaborates with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) experts to implement the most effective approach for complying with corporate safety policies and procedures:

  • Health & Safety: Enforces a culture of zero injury and illness.

  • Environmental: Understands and proactively avoid environmental impact and potential risk to the businesses.

  • Food Safety: Directly monitors risks associated with products. Ensures HACCP/FDA requirements are met in all food and feed processes.

  • Educates workforce in the food safety fundamentals and completes safety inspections and housekeeping audits.

  • Documents and supports investigation of EHS/Food Safety incidents.

20% CUSTOMER FOCUS/ PRODUCT INNOVATION/ QUALITY MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for ensuring daily master sanitation & housekeeping activites are completed and routinely audited.

  • Directly monitors production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within

specifications.

  • Documents and supports investigation of quality issues.

  • Supports BU/Plant customer relationship by meeting businesses objectives and by understanding how operational performance impacts internal/external customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Technical Bachelor’s Degree; or High School diploma/GED with a minimum of 3 years production or maintenance experience in lieu of dergee

  • Safety Champion - help promote VBS and actively participate in safety programs

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency

  • Strong organizational, leadership and planning skills

  • Strong team player

  • Demonstrated self-starter

  • Must be willing to work a 12hr, 4 days on / 4 days off schedule and overtime as needed.

  • Ability to communicated effectively both verbal and written within multiple levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated effective systematic approach to problem solving

  • Ability to organize, coordinate and accomplish multiple tasks

  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment

  • Ability to travel as needed (less than 10%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and experience using SAP

  • Working knowledge and experience using Maximo

  • Working knowledge and experience with GFSI initiatives and programs

  • Experience working in an environment with a collective bargaining agreement

  • Working knowledge of Food Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA and Environmental regulations)
