Primary Purpose and Summary

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the team that provides general housekeeping for the offices and the manufacturing plant. This leader is responsible for creating an inclusive team of engaged employees that performs. A high performer in this position will identify problems or bottlenecks in sanitation processes and resolve issues; ensure resources (including materials, equipment, and human resources) are available to maintain a clean and safe environment; support continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost, and customer service. The role also examines opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint of the operation.

Primary Accountabilities

60% - Leadership: Ensure effective and efficient operations with a culture of continuous improvement in the area of general housekeeping. Maintain practices that support the food safety program in the facility. Measure and monitor performance of team. Lead improvement efforts including but not limited to measuring and reducing chemical use or environmental impact of the location. Create an environment where all are expected to be active members of the team involved in the business. Recognize and celebrate successes. Challenge people to be better than they thought possible. Create opportunities for growth and development. Train employees. Provide feedback and coach employees.

30% - Safety: Champion safety processes, ergonomic efforts and creating an environment where all team members hold each other accountable for keeping their co-workers safe. Actively work to prevent/eliminate hazards that cause injury or illness.

10% - Other duties as assigned. Manages local relationships with vendors that handle waste management and cleaning chemicals used in the operation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma w/ 5 years of relevant experience

  • Flexible, able to provide periodic support on nights, holidays and weekends as required.

  • Able to navigate safely in an industrial environment (e.g., ladders, stairs, stationary and moving industrial equipment)

  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Microsoft Office Suite experience

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated skills managing change, team building, conflict resolution

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math

  • Food Safety, Quality or Production experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Basic knowledge of HACCP, GMPs and FSSC 22000

  • Knowledge of safe practices when handling and disposing of chemicals

  • Structured Continuous Improvement Experience: Stable Ops, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.

  • Bilingual: Fluent in English & Spanish

Working Conditions

Temperature and humidity conditions in the work area can vary from temperatures ranging from 65degrees F up to or exceeding 100 degrees, and very humid (near or over 80%) to ultra-low humidity (lessthan 40%).Outdoor work may be required and is subject to extreme hot and cold temperature conditions.Manufacturing processes are highly reliant on machines and as a result, noise levels can reach up to 115 decibels requiring the use of hearing protection for most of the day.Some jobs or tasks require working at heights. Employees will be required to wear plastic gloves while performing duties involving potential direct contact with the product.Personal protective equipment (such as safetyglasses, boots, or gloves) must be worn per company work rules.

Physical Requirements

The employee is regularly required lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
