Description

Provide technical and sales direction for the respective Merchandising Division with an objective to sell Southern States products and services.

Principal Accountabilities

20% Provide sales and technical support. Provide leadership, direction and implementation of new products and services. Works congruently with District Managers and Dealer Sales Managers to sell Southern States products and services.

20% Assist dealers with field sales.

15% Know the competitive markets in their territory. Communicate with wholesale procurement and retail management to maximize sales, margins and efficiencies.

10% Promote Feed Merchandising programs. Provide feedback to respective product managers’ programs and products needed to meet sales budget.

10% Develop or assist with the development and execute training of dealer personnel.

5% Manage the investigation and recommend settlement of complaints that cannot be settled at the local level.

5% Implement a time and territory management program. Develop a territory visit plan and orchestrate. Develop and maintain a top ten-customer list.

5% Sell House and Commercial Accounts as assigned.

5% Participate in programs and network with appropriate industry, government and agricultural workers.

5% Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree, preferably in Animal Nutrition or Marketing, OR equivalent 3 years work experience in related agricultural field.

  • Communication skills required.

  • Knowledge and passion for the equine industry.

  • Must be able to travel daily and 20% overnight

  • Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 50 pounds.

  • Vision, hearing and speech essential.

  • Hand coordination to use computer.

  • May require a valid driver’s license.

  • While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional sales experience in the equine industry.
