Position Purpose

Implementation and management of Occupational Health and Worker’s Compensation Programs for Monticello, MN. Responsibilities includes employee injury and illness management, both acute and chronic, utilizing Physician Standing Orders and Medical Directives; Case Management, Physician Collaboration, etc. This position will manage multiple programs including OSHA record keeping, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Fitness, Wellness, and Worker’s Compensation. This position will also provide occasional Occupational Health and Worker’s Compensation support to other Cargill locations.

Principal Accountabilities

50% - Manages Occupational Health/Workers Compensation Department. Coordinates activities of other professional staff functioning within, and outside of the department, i.e. physicians, physician assistants, advance registered nurse practitioner, physical therapist, etc in the employee injury and illness management program.

20% - Implements and documents plant specific policies and procedures to ensure compliance with mandated programs of Company, State or Federal organizations. Manages compliance programs and training in CPR, AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, HazMat, and Avian Influenza, Cargill Drug & Alcohol Program, etc. Coordinates and ensures proper implementation and execution of the Post-Offer Pre-placement physical process. Ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Ammendment (ADAAA). Manages and ensures compliance with Cargill’s Medical Privacy Policy.

10% - Ensures OSHA mandated programs and record keeping are completed to comply with regulations.

10% - Functions as a liaison between healthcare professional, employees, and other management personnel to facilitate communication.

10% - Analyzes Workers Compensation claim data and collaborates with, Corporate Workers Compensation Managers, Human Resources, Safety, Operations and Plant Management to identify opportunities and implement actions to decrease liability in the Workers Compensation arena


Required Qualifications:

  • RN license active and in good standing in the state of IA OR ability to obtain RN license IA

  • Ability to obtain RN license in MN and MI

  • Associate Degree of Science in Nursing

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer Skills – electronic health record experience; Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, etc.

  • Strong Leadership and Conflict Resolution Skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

  • Occupational Health and/or 2 years nursing experience

  • OHN Certification/CCM

  • Knowledge of OSHA, Workers Compensation, and Industry Employment

  • Preferred Bilingual – Spanish/English
