This is an entry level position in the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Laboratory in Mount Crawford, VA. This role will provide technical support to Cargill Protein locations by conducting microbiological (including pathogens) and/or chemical testing on product as needed and directed by the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Management Team. This position ensures compliance to Cargill quality standards, as well as USDA regulatory standards.
50% Perform microbiological and/or chemical/physical analyses on ingredients, raw materials, finished products, equipment and the production environment.
25% Perform internal quality assurance analyses to ensure accurate generation of data
15% Provide accurate documentation for all lab operations
10% Perform other duties assigned by Laboratory Supervisor or other management
Associates Degree or B.S. Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food or Animal Science or closely related field with Microbiology and Chemistry emphasis.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong problem solving, decision-making, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Proficient at multi-tasking. Detail-oriented, highly motivated, with ability to interact well with others.
Proficient in performing mathematical calculations.
Experience in a Laboratory setting
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
Experience with a LIMS system
