Position Overiew:

As the Canada Sales Leader you will be responsible for developing and executing a strategy for an assigned enterprise-level, national /regional accounts & key distributors that will drive volume, growth and profitability, as well as maximize opportunities for the customers and Cargill in the Food Service Business. This will require collaboration multiple Cargill product categories to execute on tactical and long-term opportunities and identify and match customer needs to Cargill’s capabilities. You will be the customer’s advocate within Cargill and serves as the primary point of contact by representing the best interest of Cargill with a focus on the customer. You must demonstrate excellent coordination and facilitation of cross-business initiatives, leadership through influence, effective resource management, follow up and communication skills.

As the Canada Sales Leader you will also manage a Sales Professional who manages our business with identified customers within the Canadian market. This will include coaching, assessing & measuring performance.

Principal Accountabilities:

40% Develop Strategic Customer Account plans, overall market plan and execute against the plans by meeting annual goals while managing cost to budget. Accountable for the overall success of the customers relationships by delivering highly significant value by influencing key strategic customers. Influence, leverage and build relationships with senior contacts within all our Strategic and Critical Core Canadian Customers.

40% Direct overall sales efforts for a large chain in Canada to drive solutions and cultivate deeper relationships by minimizing the day to day and primary account relationship from the commercial Business manager.

10% Provide leadership to 2 direct reports to ensure alignment with our customers. Assess future resource needs.

10% Represent Cargill within the industry, participation, membership, sponsorship. Engaged and active member of the Cargill Foodservice Business Leadership Team and Field Sales Leadership Team.



  • 8 years of sales account management experience

  • 2 years’ experience in a sales role managing a large, complex customer with the ability to develop and execute a strategic sales plan

  • Any practical knowledge within the food industry

  • Ability to build, lead and manage a direct sales team; engage, assess, and manage performance.

  • Must be able to travel 30-50% nationally and 5-10% internationally to the U.S. (Minneapolis and Wichita)

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience in the foodservice industry working with national accounts, regional chains or large distribution customers

  • Practical knowledge with the protein / beef industry

  • Experience managing a $75 – $100 million account

  • Risk management/commodity market experience

  • Strong project management skills

  • Experience working on R&D projects

  • Supply chain experience with various distribution models

  • Sales Effectiveness or another sales training

  • Bilingual English/French
