Position Purpose & Summary

The FSQR (Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory) Location Supervisor II is responsible for leading food safety and quality activities at a location with moderate FSQR complexity and risk. This role is ultimately responsible for assuring that all final product shipments meet or exceed customer requirements. The FSQR Location Supervisor II is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the site food safety culture as well as the FSQR management systems (incl. methods, procedures, maintenance, calibration, cross-checks, training, auditing, raw materials verification, purchasing). The FSQR Location Supervisor II is responsible for providing overall leadership for our performance management process and the coordination of hiring, coaching and developing talent at the local site. The FSQR Location Supervisor II must assist in the design and facilitation of training programs to ensure the FSQR team has sufficient knowledge of facility operations, and quality management systems to enable adequate operations and commercial support. Training must additionally encompass data analysis, trend identification and notification protocols. The FSQR Locations Supervisor II is a part of the local leadership team, the BU FSQR leadership team, and is often a primary contact for direct customer interaction.

Principal Accountabilities

30% People/resource/budget management – lead talent management of employees in FSQR organization for one or more facilities with large number of FSQR resources, accountable for selection, training, development performance management and engagement for a large number of direct/indirect reports, develop/implement short range (tactical) FSQR plans in alignment with BU and local plans, actively participates in development of FSQR initiatives and budgets, sets accurate and challenging budgets, key member of location leadership team

20% Shape food safety, quality and regulatory culture/reputation - interface with manager/directors within BU and represent FSQR as part of location management team, act as liaison between customer and operations to ensure standard/expectations are met, build and develop effective engaged FSQR workforce, lead implementation of BU FSQR strategy/tactical plans

20% Develop, implement and assess process/systems – plans and directs all FSQR programs and management of change, implements product specification systems, drives continuous improvement, provides input to location leaders related to base/non-base capital needs to maintain food safety leadership position in one or more locations

15% Perform prevention activities and issue resolution – act as customer interface, manage FSQR audits, respond to customer questions/complaints, proactively identify risks, take action to prevent FSQR issues across location.

15% Ensure compliance of regulations/policies- ultimate accountability for all FSQR compliance across one or more facilities, analyze, review, interpret FSQR policies, regulations, implements predefined customer and supplier standards, monitor regulatory activities, ensures plant compliance, act as liaison with regulatory authorities at local level.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science field

  • 5 or more years’ experience in Quality, Food Safety (FSQR)

  • 4 or more years’ supervisory experience (formal and/or informal)

  • Demonstrated leadership/motivation to engage employees in the business.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience

  • Must be self-directed in daily activities

  • Intermediate Project Management - Applies intermediate structured, disciplined approach to planning, administering and completing projects

  • Intermediate Plant Manufacturing Knowledge - intermediate practical knowledge of manufacturing processes & operations

  • Intermediate HAACP Knowledge/Implementation - Applies HAACP to identify & control food safety hazards

  • Delivers intermediate learning solutions that engage leaners and provides desired outcomes

  • Interfaces effectively with customers; ensures products meet

  • Applies basic business acumen to partner effectively with business counterparts

  • Applies basic scientific knowledge & principles to identify & manage risk

  • Applies basic auditing and quality compliance skills to identify and manage risks/compliance.

  • Identifies & addresses basic supplier quality issues

  • Builds relationships & negotiates effectively with external groups

  • Prepares product information and documentation that meet regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Stays up-to-date and ensures compliance with food laws and regulations.

  • Conducts and communicates the results of a scientific evaluation of the known or potential adverse health effects resulting from human or animal exposure to food borne hazards.

  • Applies knowledge of quality standards and tools to enhance food safety and quality

  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).

Preferred

  • 5 years of supervisory experience (formal and/or informal)

  • Previous project or team leadership experience

  • Advanced Plant Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations.

  • Identifies and addresses supplier quality issues.

  • Applies advanced auditing and quality compliance skills to identify and manage risks/compliance

  • Prepares product information and documentation that meet regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Stays up-to-date and ensures compliance with food laws and regulations.

  • Intermediate Knowledge of Quality Standards & Quality Tools - Applies knowledge of quality standards and tools to enhance food safety and quality

  • Intermediate Managing & Improving FSQR - Delivers intermediate processing that are aligned, effective & optimize Cargill resources

  • Intermediate Knowledge of Cargill Policies & Standards - Applies CFSRA policy & standards to enhance food safety & quality
